THE WHOLE TRUTH (2015), de Courtney Hunt é o aguardado segunda longa metragem da diretora do premiado FROZEN RIVER.
Esta americana nascida no Tennessee, depois de seu sucesso da estreia, se dedicou a televisão, trabalhando atras das câmeras, em episódios de IN TREATMENT, da HBO e LAW AND ORDER:SVU.
Por tudo isto, não tem como não dizer que se esperava muito mais de THE WHOLE TRUTH, um thriller de tribunal sobre um advogado que tenta livrar o filho de um amigo que supostamente assassinou o pai com uma facada no peito, por abusar fisicamente de sua mãe.
O elenco, com dois peso pesados, Keanu Reeves e Renee Zellweger (ha seis anos sem filmar e quase irreconhecível), também traz os jovens Gabriel Basso (SUPER 8, THE BIG C) e a promissora Gugu Mbata-Raw (CONCUSSION).
Para mim, o roteiro trouxe uma historia muito fraca, daquelas em que o “whodunnit” aponta o tempo inteiro para um personagem e o twist final leva a outro, mas sem grande inteligência.
Em resumo, THE WHOLE TRUTH vai ser esquecido rapidamente.

For all this, we do not have as not say that we expected much more from THE WHOLE TRUTH, a court thriller about a lawyer who tries to rid the child of a friend who allegedly murdered his father with a knife in the chest, for physically abusing his mother.
The cast, with two heavy weight names, Keanu Reeves and Renee Zellweger (six years without filming and almost unrecognizable), also brings the young Gabriel Basso (SUPER B, THE BIG C) and the promising Gugu Mbata-Raw (Concussion).
For me, the script brought a very weak story, those in which the “whodunnit” points the whole time to a character and in the final twist leads to another, but without much intelligence.
In short, THE WHOLE TRUTH will be quickly forgotten.
