EU, DANIEL BLAKE, de Ken Loach (cineasta inglês de 81 anos, diretor de A PROCURA DE ERIC e TERRA E LIBERDADE) ganhou merecidamente prêmios por onde passou (BAFTA de Melhor Filme, Cesar de Melhor Filme Estrangeiro, GOYA de Melhor Filme Estrangeiro, Palma de Ouro de Melhor Diretor).
Trata-se de um filme sobre um operário inglês que, depois de sofrer um ataque cardíaco passa a enfrentar a burocracia estatal e da previdência para voltar a trabalhar o se manter com o auxilio previdenciário cabível ate o retorno.
A radiografia que Ken Loach faz da burocracia estatal – sua estrutura ineficaz, atrasada, propositadamente complexa, aparentemente atenciosa, mas profundamente desumana – certamente se inscreve entre as melhores que o cinema ja fez. E, por certo, ganha muito pela universalidade com o tema foi tratado.
Dave Johns e Hailey Squires, os dois protagonistas, vindos de series da televisão inglesa jamais perdem sua maior característica, a de pessoas absolutamente comuns, como se o filme estivesse a mostrar alguém de qualquer rua de uma cidade inglesa.

I, DANIEL BLAKE, by Ken Loach (81 years old English director, LOOKING FOR ERIC and LAND AND FREEDOM) has been a well-deserved award winner (BAFTA for Best Picture, Cesar for Best Foreign Film, GOYA for Best Foreign Film, Palma de Oro for Best Director).
This is a film about an English worker who, after suffering a heart attack, starts to face the state bureaucracy and the social security to go back to work or to keep up with the social security assistance that can be applied until his return.
Ken Loach’s radiograph of the state bureaucracy – its ineffective, backward, purposefully complex, seemingly caring, but deeply inhuman structure – is certainly among the best that filmmakers have ever done. And, by the way, it gains a lot from the universality with which the theme was treated.
Dave Johns and Hailey Squires, the two protagonists from English television series never lose their biggest feature, the face of absolutely ordinary people, as if the movie was showing someone from any street in an English city.
I, DANIEL BLAKE is one of the best films of 2016. Cinema top of the line.
