SHETLAND é uma série policial inglesa que enfoca os crimes a serem desvendados por uma pequena unidade de Polícia na isolada e fria SHETLAND, um ilha escocesa ao norte da Europa. O sucesso do seriado é tamanho que já teve sete temporadas. Normalmente divide as histórias em dois capítulos de uma hora, para dar tempo dos roteiristas aprofundarem histórias, personagens e tramas. Acho que a maior qualidade de SHETLAND é justamente criar crimes diferentes do que a gente está acostumados a ver.

O ator principal, que vive o DI Jimmy Perez é o escocês Douglas Henshall (DORIAN GRAY). Seu Perez é inteligente, obsessivo por descobrir a verdade, mas carrega um carinho pelos habitantes do local que volta e meia lhe causa decepções ao verificar traições, mentiras e violência entre seus conterrâneos. Isto dá à série um tom meio ingênuo e regional, que ficou muito interessante de se ver.
Alisson O’Donnell (a gordinha Alisson “Tosh” McIntosh) e Steven Robertson (DC Sandy Wilson) ajudam Perez a ir atrás dos culpados. Erin Armstrong faz a filha adolescente do policial.
Já vi quatro capítulos da primeira temporada narrando duas histórias ótimas. As participações de atores mais conhecidos ajudam na atratividade das tramas.

SHETLAND is an English thriller series that focuses on the crimes to be unraveled by a small police unit in isolated and cold SHETLAND, a Scottish island in northern Europe. The success of the series is such that it has already had seven seasons. It usually divides the stories into two hour-long chapters, to give screenwriters time to delve into stories, characters and plots. I think the greatest quality of SHETLAND is precisely to create crimes different from what we are used to seeing.
