Já escrevi aqui que a série PERRY MASON, da HBO é uma das melhores da atualidade, embora eu ache que é pouco comentada.
O capítulo final da segunda temporada foi soberbo em todos os aspectos.
Os caminhos pelos quais Perry Mason (Matthew Rhys) e Della Street (Juliete Rylance roubando cada cena) fecham o caso é nada mais que um primoroso exercício de roteiro cinematográfico.
A história se completa com chave de ouro apresentando a verdadeira face da justiça, os problemas da advocacia, os preconceitos sociais incontornáveis, o racismo, as veleidades dos ricos e os problemas dos que vivem atrás de uma vida digna no dia a dia.
A historia policial dessa segunda temporada é muito rica. Quem matou o rico filho de um industrial mafioso de Los Angeles? Por que?
Mason e Della têm de superar a tudo e a todos.
Há uma dúzia de ótimos personagens, como o Promotor Chefe premido por uma chantagem a respeito de seus hábitos sexuais ou a jovem professora que se encanta por Mason e é maltratada por ele no pior momento do processo.
Cada vez mais admiro as produções da HBO. Acho que são séries adultas, enfocando temas profundos e significativos, sem meias palavras. Tudo embalado em produções impecáveis e elencos primorosos.
PERRY MASON deve ter uma terceira temporada. O Detetive criado por Erle Stanley Gardner – cujas histórias são livremente adaptadas para a série – merece muito voltar a nos encantar.

The final chapter of season two was superb in every way.
The ways in which Perry Mason (Matthew Rhys) and Della Street (Juliete Rylance stealing every scene) close the case is nothing more than an exquisite exercise in screenwriting.
The story is completed with a golden key, presenting the true face of justice, the problems of law, the unavoidable social prejudices, racism, the pretensions of the rich and the problems of those who live after a dignified life on a daily basis.
The police story of this second season is very rich. Who killed the wealthy son of a Los Angeles mob industrialist? Why?
Mason and Della have to overcome everything and everyone.
There are a dozen great characters, like the DA pressured by blackmail about his sexual habits or the young teacher who falls in love with Mason and is mistreated by him at the worst moment of the process.
I admire HBO productions more and more. I think they are adult series, focusing on deep and meaningful themes, without mincing words. All packaged in impeccable productions and exquisite casts.
PERRY MASON should get a third season. The Detective created by Erle Stanley Gardner – whose stories are freely adapted for the series – deserves to enchant us once more.
I hope it doesn’t take too long.
