Meu amigo Décio Presser ontem me enviou uma mensagem dizendo que recomendava o filme alemão SANGUE E OURO, dirigido por Peter Torwarth, em cartaz na NETFLIX. Agradeci a dica entusiasmada dele e marquei o filme para ver.
À noite, tendo longo tempo para aguardar o Jogo 7 entre Miami Heat e Boston Celtics, pela NBA, fui ver o filme.
Surpreende desde a primeira cena até a última. Gostei bastante de ter visto.
O roteiro e a direção são altamente criativos.
Um soldado nazista resolve desertar e é perseguido pela Gestapo e SS. Na sua fuga, vai parar em uma fazenda em Sonneberg (interior da Alemanha, embora as locações do filme tenham sido feitas na República Tcheca), onde vivem uma mulher e seu irmão deficiente mental. Eles se aliam para fugir dos nazistas.
O final da guerra com a derrota de Hitler e seu exército está chegando e os alemães em Sonnenberg estão atrás de um tesouro que uma família judia teria juntado para comprar sua liberdade.
A narrativa irônica do filme lembra muito BASTARDOS INGLÓRIOS, de Quentin Tarantino. Mas também passa por GUERREIROS PILANTRAS, de Brian G. Hutton e tantos filmes de guerra onde as populações de pequenas cidades resistem aos nazistas com sacrifício da própria vida.
O filme é violento. Em algumas cenas, talvez até demais. Mas achei que tudo fica dentro do contexto da história. Segundo uma crítica que li, somente em O DESAFIO DA ÁGUIAS, com Clint Eastwood (um filme de guerra dos anos 60) os “mocinhos”matavam mais soldados nazistas que nesse atual sangue e ouro.
Na minha opinião, BLOOD AND GOLD é um filme que merece muito ser visto. Por sua originalidade e pela abordagem que faz de temas clássicos como a ambição desmedida, a loucura da guerra e a luta pela sobrevivência. Sempre com um tom mais irônico do que dramático.
O THE GUARDIAN chamou o filme de “um spaghetti western de guerra”.

My friend Décio Presser sent me a message yesterday saying that he recommended the German film BLOOD & GOLD, directed by Peter Torwarth, showing on NETFLIX. I thanked him for his enthusiastic recommendation and scheduled the movie to watch.
At night, having a long time to wait for Game 7 between the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics, for the NBA, I went to see the movie.
It surprises from the first scene to the last. I really enjoyed seeing it.
The script and direction are highly creative.
A Nazi soldier decides to desert and is pursued by the Gestapo and the SS. In his escape, he stops at a farm in Sonneberg (inland Germany, although the film’s locations were made in the Czech Republic), where a woman and her mentally disabled brother live. They team up to escape the Nazis.
The end of the war with the defeat of Hitler and his army is approaching and the Germans in Sonnenberg are after a treasure that a Jewish family would have collected to buy their freedom.
The film’s ironic narrative is very reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino‘s INGLORIOUS BASTERDS. But it also goes through KELLY’S HEROES, by Brian G. Hutton and so many war films where the populations of small towns resist the Nazis with the sacrifice of their own lives.
The film is violent. In some scenes, maybe even too much. But I thought it all fits within the context of the story. According to a review I read, only in the movie WHERE EAGLES DARE, a classic war picture with Clint Eastwood (1968), more nazi soldiers are killed by the “good guys”.
In my opinion, BLOOD AND GOLD is a film that deserves a lot to be seen. For its originality and for its approach to classic themes such as excessive ambition, the madness of war and the struggle for survival. Always with a tone more ironic than dramatic.
THE GUARDIAN called the film “a Second World War spaghetti western”.
I thought it was a great definition.
