Neste dia 20 de julho de 2023, faz 35 anos do lançamento americano do filme DURO DE MATAR (DIE HARD), de John McTiernan.
Bruce Willis vivia John McClane, um policial de Nova Iorque que vai a Los Angeles na semana de Natal, buscando recuperar o amor de sua esposa Kelly Genaro (Bonnie Bedelia), hoje alta executiva de uma corporação japonesa sediada no Nakatomi Building, um dos prédios icônicos da cidade dos anjos.
Para azar de todo mundo, na hora em McClane chega ao prédio, um grupo de terroristas está iniciando um plano muito bem feito de roubo de milhões de dólares em títulos ao portador que estão no cofre super seguro da empresa.
Eles são Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman, perfeito), Karl (Alexander Gudonov) e Theo (Clarence Gyliard Jr.), mais uma dúzia de mercenários fortemente armados, cujo ideia era explodir o prédio ao final do roubo, enterrando as provas.
Os confrontos entre McClane e os bandidos durante as duas horas e doze minutos do filme são antológicos e aqui está uma das razões da perenidade de DIE HARD: cenas fortes e violentas, filmadas com muita técnica e imaginação por McTiernan, sem jamais perder o humor de debochar da trama em que um homem sozinho derrotava todos grupo de vilões.
Bruce Willis fez aqui seu melhor papel. McClane é o herói americano solitário, um cowboy moderno, como ironiza Gruber antes do confronto final.
Tudo funciona à perfeição no filme.
Já vi DIE HARD mais de vinte vezes (muitas vezes somente uma parte ou outra na TV) e cada vez mais me parece um filme de ação perfeito. Irretocável.
Incrível que já faça 35 anos de seu lançamento.

This July 20, 2023 marks the 35th anniversary of the American release of John McTiernan‘s film DIE HARD.
Bruce Willis played John McClane, a New York police officer who goes to Los Angeles during Christmas week, seeking to regain the love of his wife Kelly Genaro (Bonnie Bedelia), now a top executive of a Japanese corporation headquartered in the Nakatomi Building, one of the buildings iconic city of angels.
Unfortunately for everyone, by the time McClane arrives at the building, a group of terrorists is initiating a very well-crafted plan to steal millions of dollars in bearer bonds that are in the company’s super secure vault.
They are Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman, perfect), Karl (Alexander Gudonov) and Theo (Clarence Gyliard Jr.), plus a dozen heavily armed mercenaries, whose idea was to blow up the building at the end of the robbery, burying the evidence.
The confrontations between McClane and the bandits during the two hours and twelve minutes of the film are anthological and here is one of the reasons why DIE HARD is perennial: strong and violent scenes, filmed with a lot of technique and imagination by McTiernan, without ever losing the humor of make fun of the plot in which one man alone defeated the entire group of villains.
Bruce Willis played his best role here. McClane is the lone American hero, a modern cowboy, as Gruber ironizes before the final showdown.
Everything works perfectly in the movie.
I’ve seen DIE HARD more than twenty times (often only part or two on TV) and each time it strikes me as a perfect action movie. Untouchable.
Incredible that it has already been 35 years since its release.
