NEGÓCIO ARRISCADO: Faz 40 anos que Tom Cruise e Rebecca de Mornay Quebraram a Banca

Esta frase clássica fecha o filme NEGÓCIO ARRISCADO, de Paul Brickman, que está fazendo 40 anos de lançamento nos cinemas americanos.

Um jovem rico de Chicago – quando seus pais estão viajando – resolve chamar uma prostituta e os dois têm a idéia de trazer as colegas dela para atender por uma noite os colegas dele.

Obviamente, a situação sai de controle e Joel Goodson (Tom Cruise aos 21 anos) tem que se virar para recolocar as coisas nos eixos.

RISKY BUSINESS é uma comédia muito inspirada. Primeiro por não se render ao moralismo fácil que determinaria um final punitivo para Joel. Segundo por ter um olhar afetuoso sobre Lana (Rebecca de Mornay em seu melhor trabalho) e suas parceiras da noite.

O sarcasmo do filme se dirige aos colegas engomadinhos de Joel e aos pais do jovem, preocupados com um arranhão de um vaso de cristal.

Eu gosto bastante de RISKY BUSINESS. Acho que ele é bem ácido sobre o American way of life. Ou quase isso.

Afinal, enquanto seus colegas de High school faturaram alguns trocados, Joel ganhou oito mil dólares em uma noite.

“My name is Joel Goodson. I deal in human achievement. Raised over eight thousand dollars in one night. Time of your life, huh kid?”

This classic phrase closes the film RISKY BUSINESS, by Paul Brickman, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary in American theaters.

A rich young man from Chicago – when his parents are traveling – decides to call a prostitute and the two have the idea of bringing her colleagues to meet his colleagues for one night.

Obviously, the situation gets out of hand and Joel Goodson (Tom Cruise at 21 years old) has to do his best to put things back on track.

RISKY BUSINESS is a very inspired comedy. First, for not surrendering to the easy moralism that would determine a punitive ending for Joel. Second for having an affectionate eye on Lana (Rebecca de Mornay in her best work) and her partners for the night.

The film’s sarcasm is aimed at Joel’s well-groomed classmates and the young man’s parents, concerned about a scratch on a crystal vase.

I really like RISKY BUSINESS. I think he’s pretty acidic about the American way of life. Or nearly so.

After all, while his high school classmates made a few bucks, Joel earned eight thousand dollars in one night.
