David Rousseau (Jean-Paul Rouve) é um escritor de novelas policiais que mora em Paris e atravessa uma crise criativa. Um dia, seu tio vinicultor que mora na pequena cidade de Mouthe, interior da França, morre e ele vai lá ouvir o testamento do falecido.
Lá ele se depara com a notícia do aparente suicídio da celebridade local, uma jovem que monopolizava as publicidades por ser (e interpretar) uma espécie de sósia de Marilyn Monroe. A jovem é Candice Lecouer (Sopjie Quinton) que aparece morta na neve com um vidro de barbitúricos na mão.
Rousseau vê no episódio um ótimo ponto de partida para seu novo livro policial e se coloca a investigar o caso. Evidentemente, as autoridades locais querem dar o caso por encerrado e cada avanço na investigação do escritor encontra sua resistência.
Há muitos aspectos interessantes no filme. Por exemplo, há uma narrativa feita pela morta, ao melhor estilo William Holden, em CREPÚSCULO DOS DEUSES.
Os personagens locais, como a psiquiatra que atendia a morta (Arsine Khanjian), um roteirista de comerciais (Eric Ruf) e o único policial interessado em ajudar o escritor (Guillaume Coix) acrescentam bastante ao livro em produção e ao filme em si.
A trama fica ainda mais atrativa quando Rousseau vai se deparando com as coincidências entre vida da falecida e sua ídolo MM.
O filme é bem feito, tem uma insuspeitada California Dreamin’ na trilha sonora e muitas situações cômicas bem inseridas na história.
NOBODY ELSE BUT YOU é um bom thriller francês que cumpre seu papel.
I saw the French film POUPOUPIDOU (NOBODY ELSE BUT YOU), directed by Gérald Hustache-Mathieu. It’s on the MHZ app.
David Rousseau (Jean-Paul Rouve) is a crime novel writer who lives in Paris and is going through a creative crisis. One day, his winegrower uncle who lives in the small town of Mouthe, in the French countryside, dies and he goes there to hear the deceased’s will.
There he is faced with the news of the apparent suicide of the local celebrity, a young woman who monopolized publicity for being (and playing) a kind of Marilyn Monroe look-alike. The young woman is Candice Lecouer (Sopjie Quinton) who appears dead in the snow with a bottle of barbiturates in her hand.
Rousseau sees the episode as a great starting point for his new crime book and sets out to investigate the case. Evidently, the local authorities want to close the case, and every step forward in the writer’s investigation is met with resistance.
There are many interesting aspects of the film. For example, there is a narrative made by the dead woman (as Rousseau reads her diaries), in the best William Holden style, in SUNSET BOULEVARD.
Local characters, such as the psychiatrist who attended to the dead woman (Arsine Khanjian), a commercial writer (Eric Ruf) and the only policeman interested in helping the writer (Guillaume Coix) add a lot to the book in production and the film itself.
The plot becomes even more attractive when Rousseau comes across the coincidences between the dead woman’s life and her idol MM.
The film is well done, has an unsuspected California Dreamin’ in the soundtrack and many comic situations well inserted in the story.
NOBODY ELSE BUT YOU is a good French thriller that does its job.
