Como advogado, resolvi dar uma olhada na série coreana MAY I PLEASE THE COURT, em exibição no STAR+. São 12 capítulos, o que já me pareceu meio demais. Mas fui ver os primeiros.
Confesso que me surpreendeu. A produção é ótima.
Noh-Chak Hee, uma jovem e talentosa advogada de uma grande firma (a atriz coreana Ryeowon Jung) resolve ajudar uma amiga pobre justamente quando está sendo promovida a sócia da firma. O resultado da manobra lhe custa um ano de exílio como defensora pública em um bairro pobre da cidade.
Lá ela vai trabalhar com um advogado misterioso e idealista chamado Jwa Si Baek (Lee Kyu-hiung).
Os primeiros capítulos se desenvolveram em meio a muitos clichês sobre a perversidade das grandes corporações e os esquemas maquiavélicos de grandes escritórios de advocacia.
Mas nada como um crime para abalar as estruturas. Lá pelas tantas, de forma completamente surpreendente, um executivo do mal que tentara abusar da heroína é cruelmente assassinado e a trama dá uma reviravolta.
Isso me atraiu ainda mais para a série.
Vou voltar certo ao STAR+, para ver onde essa série sobre advogados coreanos, trabalhos pró-bono, assassinatos e desigualdades sociais vai dar.

There she goes to work with a mysterious and idealistic lawyer named Jwa Si Baek (Lee Kyu-hiung).
The first chapters developed amid many clichés about the perversity of large corporations and the Machiavellian schemes of large law firms.
But nothing like a crime to shake the structures. At some point, in a completely surprising way, an evil executive who tried to abuse our heroin is cruelly murdered and the plot takes a turn.
It drew me even more into the series.
