Foi na série THE MISSING (duas temporadas) que conhecemos o detetive Julien Baptiste, vivido com rara paixão pelo ator turco Tchéky Karyo. Foi um trabalho memorável de ator. para nossa felicidade, fez tanto sucesso que voltou na série BAPTISTE (também duas temporadas), em cartaz na Amazon Prime Video.
Nessa segunda temporada, ainda traumatizado pela morte da filha drogada, Baptiste se dispõe a ajudar a Embaixadora britânica na Hungria, Emma Chambers (Fiona Shaw, maravilhosa), cuja família desapareceu durante um final de semana nas montanhas.
O tema central da trama é a ascensão da direita radical na Europa e os conflitos com imigrantes, terroristas, populações empobrecidas e um estado perplexo diante do quadro potencialmente conflituoso.
A busca pelos familiares desaparecidos – a especialidade de Baptiste – é apenas o inicio de um quadro muito mais profundo e preocupante.
Tchéky Karyo achou em Baptiste seu personagem definitivo. A dramaticidade de sua busca e os fantasmas de seu passado dão uma tragicidade incrível ao policial.
Não é fácil (ou agradável) acompanhar os seis capítulos de BAPTISTE. Há muita violência e problemas políticos gravíssimos. Mas fica o sentimento de se ver uma obra comprometida e preocupada como o futuro.
E, particularmente nessa segunda temporada, temos o prazer de ver dois atores incríveis mostrando sua arte em altíssimo nível.
It was in the series THE MISSING (two seasons) that we met detective Julien Baptiste, played with rare passion by Turkish actor Tchéky Karyo. It was a memorable acting job. To our delight, it was so successful that it returned in the series BAPTISTE (also two seasons), showing on Amazon Prime Video.
In this second season, still traumatized by the death of his drugged daughter, Baptiste decides to help the British Ambassador to Hungary, Emma Chambers (Fiona Shaw, wonderful), whose family disappeared during a weekend in the mountains.
The central theme of the plot is the rise of the radical right in Europe and the conflicts with immigrants, terrorists, impoverished populations and a state perplexed by the potentially conflictive situation.
The search for missing family members – Baptiste’s specialty – is just the beginning of a much deeper and more worrying picture.
Tchéky Karyo found his definitive character in Baptiste. The drama of his search and the ghosts of his past give the police officer incredible tragicity.
It is not easy (or pleasant) to follow the six chapters of BAPTISTE. There is a lot of violence and very serious political problems. But the feeling remains of seeing a work committed and concerned with the future.
And, particularly in this second season, two incredible actors showing their art at a very high level.
