Meu feriado foi maravilhoso. Vi os cinco capítulos da excepcional série NADA, uma produção dos cineastas Gastón Duprat e Mariano Kuhn, que nos traz outra vez a excelência do cinema argentino.
Luis Brandoni vive o crítico gastronômico Manuel, um ex-rico em plena decadência financeira que vive dos adiantamentos de sua editora (por livros que ele não escreve) e vendas de suas obras de arte que existem em sua casa.
O melhor amigo dele é o escritor e professor novaiorquino Vincent, em mais um trabalho afetivo e inspirado do monstro sagrado Robert de Niro.
O elenco de NADA tem o excepcional Guillermo Francella, silvia Kutika, Majo Cabrera, Belén Chavane, Cecilia Dopazo e Ariadna Asturzzi.
A série tem uma universalidade e um humanismo impressionantes. Mas também traz uma aula de argentinidade, mostrando como raras vezes foi mostrada uma encantadora Buenos Aires e a gastronomia portenha top.
Não a toa, um dos consultores da série é Francis Mallmann, chef internacionalmente consagrado. Os pratos que Manuel come, cozinha e mostra para seus parceiros, de um pancho incrível em um boteco de esquina a um inacreditável Chorizo a Caballo, consumido em uma parrilla buenoairense são de dar água na boca.
Manuel pode ser um velho ranzinza e decadente, quebrado e solitário. Mas dentro dele existe um potencial de conhecimento e riqueza intelectual que ilumina sua vida. Um ser humano raro, reconhecido em todo seu valor pelo amigo novaiorquino.
Ao final de NADA, outra vez a gente agradece ter o cinema argentino disponível para vermos e usufruirmos. O país vizinho segue nos brindando com filmes e séries incríveis.

My holiday was wonderful. I saw the five chapters of the exceptional NOTHING series, a production by filmmakers Gastón Duprat and Mariano Cohn, which once again brings us the excellence of Argentine cinema.
Luis Brandoni plays gastronomic critic Manuel, a former rich man in the midst of financial decline who lives off advances from his publisher (for books he doesn’t write) and sales of his works of art that exist in his home.
His best friend is the New York writer and professor Vincent, in yet another affectionate and inspired work by the sacred monster Robert de Niro.
The cast of NADA has the exceptional Guillermo Francella, Silvia Kutika, Majo Cabrera, Belén Chavane, Cecilia Dopazo and Ariadna Asturzzi.
The series has an impressive universality and humanism. But it also brings a lesson in Argentineanness, showing how charming Buenos Aires and top Buenos Aires cuisine have rarely been shown.
It’s no surprise that one of the series’ consultants is Francis Mallmann, an internationally renowned chef. The dishes that Manuel eats, cooks and shows to his partners, from an incredible pancho in a corner bar to an unbelievable Chorizo a Caballo, consumed in a parrilla in Buenos Aires, are mouth-watering.
Manuel may be a grumpy and decadent old man, broken and lonely. But within him there is a potential for knowledge and intellectual richness that illuminates his life. A rare human being, recognized in all his value by his New Yorker friend.
At the end of NOTHING, once again we are grateful to have Argentine cinema available for us to see and enjoy. The neighboring country continues to offer us incredible films and series.
