Meio como surpresa de Halloween, A HAUNTING IN VENICE entrou em cartaz no Star+ e no HULU.
É o terceiro filme que o cineasta Kenneth Branagh faz com Hercule Poirot, o personagem ícone dos livros da escritora inglesa Agatha Christie. Este filme é baseado no livro ‘Hallowe’en Party”, onde o detetive belga sai da aposentadoria a pedido de uma escritora de livros policiais para investigar a morte de uma jovem em um casarão supostamente mal assombrado em Veneza.
O primeiro destaque do filme é, outra vez, um elenco incrível. Além de Branagh como Poirot, temos Tina Fey, Michelle Yeoh (oscarizada e em alta), Kelly Reilly (YELLOWSTONE), Jamie Dorman, o italiano Ricardo Scamarcio, Camille Cotin e Emma Laird.
O segundo ativo do filme é uma incrível cenografia gótica de Veneza, castigada por uma tempestade, mas sempre com uma beleza triste notável da cidade que está afundando. Há inúmeras cenas belíssimas no filme.
Os fãs de Agatha Christie e Poirot certamente estanharão a trama. A velha escritora não tinha muita relação com sobrenatural. Os vilões dela eram sempre de carne e osso. Aqui também, mas como raramente em sua obra há toques do oculto na história.
Tendo recém visto o filme, acho sim que ele é o melhor dos três que Branagh fez com Poirot. Pelo menos, como eu não conhecia a história, fiquei preso na solução do whodunit final.
Eu gosto do Poirot de Branagh. Acho que tem em conceito interessante que mescla a arrogância do belga com certas fraquezas humanas. Ficou bem interessante.
A HAUNTING IN VENICE é mais um ótimo filme especialmente para os fãs da escritora.
A bit of a Halloween surprise, A HAUNTING IN VENICE was shown on Star+ and HULU.
It is the third film that filmmaker Kenneth Branagh has made with Hercule Poirot, the iconic character from English writer Agatha Christie‘s books. This film is based on the book ‘Hallowe’en Party”, where the Belgian detective comes out of retirement at the request of a crime writer to investigate the death of a young girl in a supposedly haunted house in Venice.
The first highlight of the film is, once again, an incredible cast. In addition to Branagh as Poirot, we have Tina Fey, Michelle Yeoh (Oscarized and on the rise), Kelly Reilly (YELLOWSTONE), Jamie Dorman, Italian Ricardo Scamarcio, Camille Cotin and Emma Laird.
The film’s second asset is an incredible gothic scenography of Venice, battered by a storm, but always with a remarkable sad beauty of the sinking city. There are countless beautiful scenes in the film.
Fans of Agatha Christie and Poirot will certainly enjoy the plot. The old writer didn’t have much connection with the supernatural. Her villains were always flesh and blood. Here too, but as rarely in her work there are touches of the occult in the story.
Having just seen the film, I do think it is the best of the three that Branagh made with Poirot. At least, since I didn’t know the story, I was stuck on the final whodunit solution.
I like Branagh’s Poirot. I think it has an interesting concept that mixes the Belgian’s arrogance with certain human weaknesses. It turned out very interesting.
A HAUNTING IN VENICE is another great film especially for fans of the female writer.
