Entrou no ar no STAR+ (e no HULU), a série ASSASSINATO NO FIM DO MUNDO, uma produção assinada pela atriz Brit Marling (que faz o papel da influencer Lee na série). Já temos acesso aos dois primeiros capítulos. São um deleite para quem gosta de “whodunnit?” (o popular “quem matou?”
Um grupo de pessoas inovadoras é reunido por um bilionário tipo Steve Jobs em um hotel isolado na Islândia. A paisagem gelada e o isolamento remetem à prisão do hotel no clássico O ILUMINADO. Mas aqui o mistério e o suspense ficam por conta do assassinato de um dos convidados, Bill, um hacker profissional que era parceiro da protagonista Darby na solução de crimes.
Darby, personagem da ascendente Emma Corrin (desinibida em O AMANTE DE LADY CHATERLEY) é filha de um legista da Polícia habituada a ajudar o pai em cenas de crimes e autópsias. Os flashbacks dela com o pai lembram muito os de O SILÊNCIO DOS INOCENTES, Muito bem feitos.
O elenco é ótimo. Tem ainda Clive Owen, Alice Braga (cada vez melhor), Joan Chen (de TWIN PEAKS), Raul Esparza, Louis Cancelmi (o soturno chefe de segurança do bilionário).
Tudo remete a um ótimo mistério. A linda e destemida heroína, experiente em resolver crimes, desta vez enfrentará uma situação totalmente inusitada. A inteligência artificial estará todo tempo presente, a favo e contra o trabalho dela de achar o culpado.
Gostei muito dos dois capítulos iniciais. Foram exemplares.
Tomara que a série continue neste altíssimo nível até o final.
The series A MURDER AT THE END OF THE WORLD, a production signed by actress Brit Marling (who plays the influencer Lee in the series), aired on STAR+ (and HULU). We already have access to the first two chapters. They’re a treat for anyone who likes “whodunnit?” (the popular “who killed?”
A group of innovative people are brought together by a Steve Jobs-like billionaire in an isolated hotel in Iceland. The icy landscape and isolation are reminiscent of the hotel prison in the classic THE SHINING. But here the mystery and suspense are due to the murder of one of the guests, Bill, a professional hacker who was protagonist Darby’s partner in solving crimes.
Darby, a character played by the ascendant Emma Corrin (uninhibited in LADY CHATERLEY’S LOVER) is the daughter of a police coroner used to helping her father at crime scenes and autopsies. Her flashbacks with her father are very reminiscent of those in SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, very well done.
The cast is great. There’s also Clive Owen, Alice Braga (getting better and better), Joan Chen (from TWIN PEAKS), Raul Esparza, Louis Cancelmi (the billionaire’s grim security chief).
It all leads to a great mystery. Darby, a fearless heroine, experienced in solving crimes, this time will face a completely unusual situation. Artificial intelligence will be present at all times, for and against its work of finding the culprit.
I really liked the first two chapters. They were exemplary.
I hope the series continues at this very high level until the end.
