Dois estranhos vindos da Turquia se encontram na esteira de bagagens do Aeroporto JFK, em Nova Iorque. A moça fica desesperada porque alguém pegou por engano sua mala, onde estão os cartões o todo seus dinheiro e roupas. Elegantemente, o rapaz se oferece para ajudá-la a encontrar a mala.
Os dois, casados, vão interagir no que parece ser um romance de um final de semana em Nova Iorque.
Ela é Serin (Berin Saat, uma estrela da televisão e cinema da Turquia), uma designer de moda que veio a NY fazer uma entrevista. Ele é Mehmet (Kivanç Tatlitug), um músico em busca de emprego.
O romance dos dois é bonitinho e divertido, especialmente emoldurado por Nova Iorque, embora o filme falhe em captar o mais lindo da Big Apple.
Confesso que o twist do filme me surpreendeu completamente. Não esperava por nada a virada do roteiro.
Feitas as contas, vi o filme com atenção até o final, mas não me emocionou como pretendia.
Achei o final bem clichê.
Aliás, com raras exceções os filmes e séries turcas que a NETFLIX e a AMAZON trazem, em regra são produções muito boas, onde falta profundidade dramática.
Ficam na superfície de bons enredos. Como esse ÚLTIMA CHAMADA PARA ISTAMBUL.
Among the dozens of films produced in Turkey, the romantic drama LAST CALL TO ISTANBUL, directed by Gonenk Uyanik, is showing on NETFLIX in 2023.
Two strangers from Turkey meet at the baggage claim at JFK Airport in New York. The girl is desperate because someone mistakenly took her suitcase, which contains her credit cards, all her money and clothes. Elegantly, the boy offers to help her find the suitcase.
The two, married, will interact in what appears to be a weekend romance in New York.
She is Serin (Berin Saat, a television and film star from Turkey), a fashion designer who came to NY for an interview. He is Mehmet (Kivanç Tatlitug), a musician looking for a job.
Their romance is cute and fun, especially framed by New York, although the film fails to capture the most beautiful aspects of the Big Apple.
I confess that the film’s twist completely surprised me. I didn’t expect the script to turn around at all.
All things considered, I saw the film with interest until the end, but it didn’t move me as it intended.
For me, the ending is quite cliché.
In fact, with rare exceptions, the Turkish films and series that NETFLIX and AMAZON bring are, as a rule, very good productions, lacking dramatic depth.
They remain on the surface of good plots. Like this LAST CALL TO ISTANBUL.
