Dois meninos italianos forma uma amizade desde muito jovens. A vida inteira eles serão amigos. Mas seu relacionamento ganha outra dimensão quando um deles, Bruno (Cristiano Sassella) resolve realizar o sonho do pai dou outro, Pietro (Lupo Barbiero), construindo uma casa no ponto mais inacessível dos Alpes italianos.
Há muitos filmes onde a construção artesanal de uma casa é uma metáfora da vida. AS OITO MONTANHAS faz isso de modo brilhante.
O elenco soberbo me lembrou as obras primas do Neo realismo italiano, com seus maravilhosos atores amadores. A autenticidade do cast é impressionante e emocionante.
A vida dos dois amigos vai ter muitas idas e vindas. Bruno casa e tem uma filha e vai viver de queijos produzidos ali na casa. Pietro vai ao Nepal e lá se apaixona e fixa moradia.
Mas os dois estarão sempre juntos, resgatando um ao outro mesmo nos piores momentos.
Há muitas cenas e diálogos maravilhosos no filme. “Todos os montanheses são iguais no mundo inteiro”. Uma linda ideia.
O filme ganhou um prêmio do júri no Festival de Cannes e o David di Donatello de Melhor Filme, em 2023. Merece todos os elogios e premiações.
Peter Bogdanovich, cineasta falecido teria dito certa vez que “todos os bons filmes já foram feitos.”
AS OITO MONTANHAS desmente o cineasta cabalmente. É um filme extraordinário.

This is another excellent film from the year 2023.
Two Italian boys form a friendship from a very young age. They will be friends their entire lives. But their relationship takes on another dimension when one of them, Bruno (Cristiano Sassella) decides to fulfill his father’s dream and another, Pietro (Lupo Barbiero), by building a house in the most inaccessible point of the Italian Alps.
There are many films where the artisanal construction of a house is a metaphor for life. THE EIGHT MOUNTAINS does this brilliantly.
The superb cast remembered me of the amateur actors of the classic Neo-realism masterpieces. The authenticity of the actors is amazing and moving.
The lives of the two friends will have many ups and downs. Bruno gets married and has a daughter and will live off cheeses produced in the house. Pietro goes to Nepal and falls in love there and settles down.
But the two will always be together, rescuing each other even in the worst moments.
There are many wonderful scenes and dialogues in the film. “All mountain people are equal throughout the world.” A beautiful idea.
The film won a jury prize at the Cannes Festival and the David di Donatello for Best Film in 2023. It deserves all the praise and awards.
Peter Bogdanovich, the late filmmaker, once said that “all good films have been made.”
THE EIGHT MOUNTAINS completely contradicts the filmmaker. It’s an extraordinary film.
