Está em cartaz na NETFLIX, o filme argentino ELENA SABE, dirigido pela cineasta portenha Anahí Berneri.
O filme foca Elena, uma mulher de cinquenta poucos anos com a condição de saúde muito debilitada pela Doença de Alzheimer, já em estágio avançado. Certa noite, a Polícia chega em sua casa para lhe dar a notícia de que Rita, sua única filha havia se suicidado por enforcamento em uma igreja local.
Mesmo em sua condição de saúde, Elena não se conforma com a morte de Rita e vai atrás de quem, segundo ela, seria o responsável pelo “assassinato”. Claro que uma investigação conduzida por uma pessoa nas condições mentais de Elena é algo de espectro muito difícil e dramático.
A trama é um prato cheio para o talento da excelente atriz argentina Mercedes Morán que aparece bem mais jovem e disposta nos flashbacks belíssimos de Elena com Rita e com a saúde deteriorada nos dias atuais. Morán é figurinha carimbada em filmes argentinos recentes (já trabalhou em 68 filmes) mas está impressionante (e por vezes irreconhecível) neste novo e marcante trabalho.
Rita (Erica Rivas) igualmente trabalha muito bem. Aos poucos o espectador vai tendo ideia real do peso que Rita carregava com a mãe enferma (e sem qualquer perspectiva de melhora) e o processo depressivo da própria Rita, aparentemente desconhecido por Elena.
O enredo tipo “quem matou?” vai perdendo força diante da dramaticidade única do quadro das doenças mentais das protagonistas.
Elena insiste na Polícia – onde pontifica o Inspetor que reiteradamente informa à mãe que o caso está fechado), na Igreja, na Escola e junto ao parceiro de Rita que ela foi assassinada porque jamais se mataria deixando a mãe doente para trás.
Qual a verdade?
A câmera de Anahí é cirúrgica e mostra os fatos sem lirismo ou meias palavras.
Tudo é muito duro nas vidas de Elena e Rita.
Suas histórias resultaram em um belo e difícil filme sobre as doenças mentais.
The Argentine film ELENA KNOWS (ELENA SABE), directed by Buenos Aires filmmaker Anahí Berneri, is showing on NETFLIX.
The film focuses on Elena, a woman in her early fifties with very poor health due to Alzheimer’s Disease, which is already in an advanced stage. One night, the police arrive at her house to tell her the news that Rita, her only daughter, had committed suicide by hanging herself in a local church.
Even in her health condition, Elena cannot accept Rita’s death and goes after whoever, according to her, would be responsible for the “murder”. Of course, an investigation conducted by a person in Elena’s mental condition is something on a very difficult and dramatic spectrum.
The plot is a perfect fit for the talent of the excellent Argentine actress Mercedes Morán who appears much younger and more willing in Elena’s beautiful flashbacks with Rita and with her health deteriorating in the present day. Morán is a usual actress in recent Argentine films (she has worked in 68 films) but is impressive (and sometimes unrecognisable) in this new and remarkable work.
Rita (Erica Rivas) also works very well. Little by little, the viewer begins to get a real idea of the weight that Rita carried with her sick mother (and with no prospect of improvement) and Rita’s own depressive process, apparently unknown to Elena.
The “who killed?” plot loses strength in the face of the unique drama of the protagonists’ mental illnesses.
Elena insists at the Police – where the Inspector repeatedly informs her that the case is closed), at the Church, at the School and with Rita’s partner that she was murdered because she would never kill herself leaving her sick mother behind.
What is the truth?
Anahí’s camera is surgical and shows the facts without lyricism or mincing words.
Everything is very hard in the lives of Elena and Rita.
Their stories resulted in a beautiful and difficult film about mental illness.
