Está sendo exibido na Amazon Prime Video, o filme alemão AFIRE, dirigido por Christian Petzold. O título foi incluído em diversas listas de melhores filmes de 2023, além de já ter conquistado seis prêmios internacionais de melhor filme, inclusive na Mostra de São Paulo, em San Sebastian e Sidney. Também ganhou um prêmio de melhor diretor em Berlim.
A trama mostra dois amigos que vão para o Mar Báltico, passar uns dias na casa de veraneio da mãe de um deles. Ao chegarem lá, com o propósito de descansar e trabalhar um pouco, se deparam com a presença de uma jovem que teve permissão da dona da casa para lá ficar.
Leon (Thomas Schubert) é um escritor muito chato que não gosta de nada que lhe é oferecido. Felix (Langston Uibel) é o amigo que está mais a fim de curtir as coisas. A jovem é Nadja (Paula Beer), uma doutora em literatura que faz um bico vendendo sorvetes na praia.
Para fechar a trama, o local está ameaçado por incêndios florestais que se aproximam perigosamente. É a batia ambiental que enriquece muito o filme.
Os três personagens vão interagir de forma errática, principalmente pela permanente insatisfação de Leon.
Petzold fez um drama muito interessante. Ele se sai muito bem em pelo menos três temas: a ameaça de desastre ambiental (há cenas tão belas quanto assustadoras), o egoísmo interminável de Leon e as tentativas de Felix e Nadja em agradar o jovem escritor.
AFIRE é um ótimo filme. Tem a lentidão narrativa típica do cinema alemão, mas acerta em quase tudo o que mira.
Teve espaço até mesmo para um surpreendente final lúdico.

The German film AFIRE, directed by Christian Petzold, is being shown on Amazon Prime Video. The title was included in several lists of the best films of 2023, in addition to having already won six international awards for best film, including at the São Paulo Exhibition, in San Sebastian and Sydney. He also won an award for best director in Berlin.
The plot shows two friends who go to the Baltic Sea, spending a few days at the summer house of one of their mothers. When they arrived there, with the intention of resting and working a little, they were faced with the presence of a young woman who had permission from the owner of the house to stay there.
Leon (Thomas Schubert) is a very boring writer who doesn’t like anything that is offered to him. Felix (Langston Uibel) is the friend who is more into enjoying things. The young woman is Nadja (Paula Beer), a doctor in literature who does a side job selling ice cream on the beach.
To close the plot, the place is threatened by forest fires that are approaching dangerously. It is the environmental beat that greatly enriches the film.
The three characters will interact in an erratic way, mainly due to Leon’s permanent dissatisfaction.
Petzold made a very interesting drama. He does very well on at least three themes: the threat of environmental disaster (there are scenes as beautiful as they are frightening), Leon’s endless selfishness and Felix and Nadja’s attempts to please the young writer.
AFIRE is a great film. It has the slow narrative typical of German cinema, but it gets almost everything it aims at right.
There was even room for a surprising playful ending.
