O Amazon Prime Video está exibindo o thriller de ficção científica FOE, que o cineasta australiano Garth Davis (LION) filmou em sua terra natal.
Hen e Junior, um casal que mora em uma fazenda retirada recebe a visita de um membro do governo que traz a inusitada proposta de que o marido fora convocado para ir morar no espaço.
A trama – baseada em um livro de autoria de Iain Reid – gerou um roteiro para lá de interessante, sobretudo para quem curte Ficção científica.
Claro que a dupla central, a ótima Saoirse Roman e o também excelente Paul Mescal vivem o casal com uma paixão e visceralidade raramente vistas na tela. A gente sente a paixão que une os dois e o consequente desespero pela próxima partida dele.
O terceiro vértice do elenco é Alan Pierre, como o misterioso Torrance.
Como uma ótima história de ficção científica, lá pelas tantas a gente não sabe mais o que é realidade e o que é delírio dos personagens, o que oportuniza a Davis fazer cenas belíssimas, como a que Hen espanca o solo no melhor estilo Scarlett O’Hara (E O VENTO LEVOU) ou a do incêndio noturno do estábulo que provoca uma debandada de cavalos pelo deserto.
Achei o filme bem diferente, criativo e provocativo, três características próprias do gênero.
Curiosamente, a paixão dos personagens centrais se sobrepõe ao enredo.
O futuro da humanidade, ao menos segundo o filme, está no amor entre as pessoas muito mais que em prodígios tecnológicos.

Hen and Junior, a couple who live on a retired farm, receive a visit from a member of the government who brings the unusual proposal that the husband has been invited to live in space.
The plot – based on a book by Iain Reid – generated a very interesting script, especially for those who enjoy Science Fiction.
Of course, the central duo, the great Saoirse Roman and the equally excellent Paul Mescal, play the couple with a passion and viscerality rarely seen on screen. We feel the passion that unites the two and the consequent desperation for his next leave.
The third apex of the cast is Alan Pierre, as the mysterious Torrance.
Like a great science fiction story, eventually we no longer know what is reality and what is the delusion of the characters, which gives Davis the opportunity to create beautiful scenes, like the one in which Hen beats the ground in the best Scarlett O’Hara (GONE WITH THE WIND) style. Hara or the nighttime fire in the stable that causes a stampede of horses across the desert.
I found the film very different, creative and provocative, three characteristics typical of the genre.
Interestingly, the passion of the central characters overlaps with the plot.
The future of humanity, at least according to the film, lies in the love between people much more than in technological prodigies.
