O filme de heist (roubo) já faz muito tempo, virou um gênero autônomo. São tantos títulos em qu a maior parte do filme se centra em um planejamento de um assalto mirabolante que dá para abrir uma prateleira somente com eles. Claro que os clássicos, tipo TOPKAPI, COMO ROUBAR UM MILHÃO DE DÓLARES e ITALIAN JOB seguem imbatíveis. O IMDB lista 88 filmes sobre roubos. Há até séries famosas (e com muito sucesso) sobre o tema tipo CASA DE PAPEL.
LIFT, de F. Gary Gray é mais um título da coleção. Um contrabandista de armas vai transportar 10 toneladas de ouro em barra para pagar uma organização terrorista por uma cyber arma de gerar catástrofes. O transporte será feito em um avião de carreira (?).
O FBI procura um super ladrão conhecido como Cyrus (o cômico Kevin hart, um dos calcanhares de Aquiles do filme) para roubar o sanguinário contrabandista (Jean Reno burocrático) antes que ele faça a compra.
O filme tem todos os clichês do gênero. A paixão avassaladora entre a agente do FBI (Gugu Mbata-Raw sempre interessante) e Cyber, gera ótimas piadas, mas não convence. Os aspectos tecnológicos do assalto – um elemento essencial do roubo – parecem coisa de ficção científica. Com um plano tão elaborado, tudo fica por um fio, e os ladrões mocinhos têm que partir para a porrada para salvar o plano.
O elenco famosos ajuda muito. Além dos já citados, temos Vincent D’Onofrio (que está bem divertido), Sam Worthington (como o chefe bossa do FBI), Ursula Corberó (atriz espanhola que se destacou como Tokyo em CASA DE PAPEL) e Yum Jee Kim (mulheres lindas são parte essencial em todo filme de roubo hoje em dia).
O filme atinge seus objetivos, A gente fica duas horas torcendo para os anti heróis se darem bem e para o super vilão e o FBI se darem mal.
Antes dos créditos a gente já esqueceu partes do filme.
Ninguém vai lembrar de LIFT como um clássico do gênero, mas ele nos deu uma tarde muito divertida. Está entre os mais vistos da NETFLIX.

Of course, the classics, like TOPKAPI, HOW TO STEAL A MILLION DOLLARS and ITALIAN JOB remain unbeatable. IMDB lists 88 films about heists. There are even famous (and very successful) series on the theme as the Spanish MONEY HEIST.
LIFT, by F. Gary Gray is another title in the collection. An arms smuggler will transport 10 tons of gold bullion to pay a terrorist organization for a catastrophe-causing cyberweapon. Transportation will be done on a airliner (?).
The FBI look for a super thief known as Cyrus (the comic Kevin Hart, one of the film’s Achilles’ heels) to rob the bloodthirsty smuggler (bureaucratic Jean Reno) before he makes the purchase.
The film has all the clichés of the genre. The overwhelming passion between the FBI agent (Gugu Mbata-Raw, always interesting) and Cyber, generates great jokes, but is not convincing. The technological aspects of the heist – an essential element of robbery – seem like something out of science fiction. With such an elaborate plan, everything hangs in the balance, and the good thieves have to fight to save the plan.
The famous cast helps a lot. In addition to those already mentioned, we have Vincent D’Onofrio (who is very funny), Sam Worthington (as the bossy head of the FBI), Ursula Corberó (Spanish actress who stood out as Tokyo in CASA DE PAPEL) and Yum Jee Kim (beautiful women are an essential part of every heist movie these days).
The film achieves its objectives, we spend two hours rooting for the antiheroes to get along and for the super villain and the FBI to get along badly.
Before the credits we already forgot parts of the film.
No one will remember LIFT as a classic of the genre, but it gave us a really funny afternoon. It is among the most watched on NETFLIX.
