Em 1989, um pequeno filme ganhou o coração da platéia e se tornou um incensado “cult movie”. ROAD HOUSE, estrelando Patrick Swayze (de DIRTY DANCING e POINT BREAK, morto precocemente), Kelly Lynch, Ben Gazzara e Sam Elliot é até hoje visto e revisto com paixão nas incontáveis reprises nas telinhas.
A Amazon studios anuncia a refilmagem de RAOD HOUSE, que estreia em 21 de março. Foi dirigida por Doug Liman, um interessante cineasta americano que tem em seu currículo títulos muito respeitados como FAIR GAME e EDGE OF TOMORROW.
Jake Gyllenhaal, um ótimo ator que não para de se reinventar estrela a refilmagem como um ex-lutador de MMA (aparentemente o filme vai explorar a paixão do público pelo octágono) que recebe a proposta de ser encarregado da segurança de um bar na linda região da Flórida Keys.
Lá vai enfrentar um poderoso milionário que domina a todos pelo medo (Billy Magnussen), com a ajuda do ameaçador lutador vivido por Connor McGregor (astro do MMA, em sua estreia no cinema).
No elenco ainda temos o ótimo Joaquim de Almeida (como o Xerife local) e as beldades Daniela Melchior (atriz portuguesa em alta) e Jessica Williams.
Pessoalmente acho muito difícil que Liman tenha se saído bem no desafio de recriar a paixão (tão inexplicável quanto profunda) por um cult movie que saiu do nada para ganhar os corações e mentes de milhares de pessoas.
Mas, até em homenagem ao ROAD MOVIE original, vou ver com atenção como Gyllenhaal e sua trupe se saíram.

Amazon studios announces the remake of ROAD HOUSE, which premieres on March 21st. It was directed by Doug Liman, an interesting American filmmaker who has to his credit highly respected titles such as FAIR GAME and EDGE OF TOMORROW.
Jake Gyllenhaal, a great actor who never stops reinventing himself, stars in the remake as a former MMA fighter (apparently the film will explore the public’s passion for the octagon) who is offered the job of being in charge of security at a bar in the beautiful region from the Florida Keys.
There he will face a powerful millionaire who dominates everyone with fear (Billy Magnussen), with the help of the menacing fighter played by Connor McGregor (MMA star, in his film debut).
In the cast we also have the great Joaquim de Almeida (as the local Sheriff) and the beauties Daniela Melchior (a popular Portuguese actress) and Jessica Williams.
Personally, I find it very difficult that Liman succeeded in the challenge of recreating the passion (as inexplicable as it is profound) for a cult movie that came out of nowhere to win the hearts and minds of thousands of people.
But even in honor of the original ROAD MOVIE, I’m going to take a closer look at how Gyllenhaal and his troupe do.
