O gênero da comédia romântica tem seu público cativo. UPGRADED (Prime Video) é uma rom com dirigida pela jovem roteirista, atriz e cineasta Carlson Young (que apareceu na série SCREAM, da MTV).
Uma jovem com mestrado em arte se emprega como assistente de uma diretora de uma famosa galeria novaiorquina. Ana (Camila Mendes) morre de medo da chefe Claire (Marisa Tomei, sempre divertida).
Por uma série de coincidências completamente inverossímeis, a jovem vai viajar a trabalho na Primeira Classe entre Nova Iorque e Londres. Ali ela senta ao lado do milionário William (Archie Renaux) e passa doze horas flertando com ele. Na chegada a Londres ela é apresentada à mãe dele, Catherine (Lena Olin) que é a dona da coleção disputada pela chefe da heroína.
É coincidência demais para os primeiros quinze minutos do filme. mesmo sendo uma comédia romântica.
A diretora Young segue à risca a cartilha do gênero.
O incrível é que o filme consegue divertir. A gente já viu tantos filmes assim que quem se deixar seduzir pela inacreditável história de amor de UPGRADED terá 104 minutos de puro entretenimento.
Inegavelmente, há boas piadas no filme. Nada muito elaborado, mas privilegiando a pura diversão.

A young woman with a master’s degree in art works as an assistant to a director of a famous New York gallery. Ana (Camila Mendes) is terrified of her boss Claire (Marisa Tomei, always funny) orders.
Through a series of completely implausible coincidences, the young woman will travel for work in First Class between New York and London. There she sits next to millionaire William (Archie Renaux) and spends twelve hours flirting with him. Upon arrival in London, she is introduced to his mother, Catherine (Lena Olin), who is the owner of the collection disputed by the heroine’s boss.
It’s too much of a coincidence for the first fifteen minutes of the film. even though it’s a romantic comedy.
Director Young follows the genre guidebook to the letter.
The incredible thing is that the film manages to entertain. We’ve seen so many films like this that anyone who is seduced by UPGRADED’s unbelievable love story will have 104 minutes of pure entertainment.
Undeniably, there are good jokes in the film. Nothing too elaborate, but focusing on pure fun.
