MAY DECEMBER, de Todd Haynes chegou ao streaming na Apple TV+. Fui logo ver. Ter Juliane Moore e Natalie Portman juntas em um filme (ainda mais de Todd Haynes) me soou urgente de ver. Não me arrependi um só segundo.
Vinte anos atrás Gracie (Moore sempre notável e cheias de sutilezas) foi protagonista de um escândalo ao ser pega fazendo sexo em uma Pet Shop com um menino de 13 anos. Ela ficou grávida, cumpriu pena e hoje está casada com Joe Yoo (Charles Melton), numa idílio casa em Savanah.
Chega para criar tensões a atriz de TV Elizabeth (Natalie Portman em interpretação recheada de detalhes incríveis), que vai vier Gracie em um telefilme a ser rodado nas próximas semanas. O trabalho de laboratório de Elizabeth é meio de detetive, meio de pesquisadora, meio de pessoa intrometida.
A recuperação que ela faz do ocorrido, via tabloides da época, entrevistas e ensaios é um dos pontos altos do filme. A câmera de Haynes sabe nos colocar dentro da história. O mimetismo dos gestos e jeito de falar de Grace por Elizabeth é impressionante.
Gostei do trabalho de Melton. Ele não tem como competir com as duas mulheres, Mas faz um Joe muito angustiado e prisioneiro de seu passado. Está muito bem.
Haynes não é dado a grandes emoções os cenas de impacto. Seus dramas são extremamente bem construídos e vão sendo mostrados – sempre com fotografia, edição e música impecáveis – para angústia e deleite do espectador.
SEGREDOS DE UM ESCÂNDALO é outro ótimo filme de Todd Haynes. Com a cumplicidade de duas atrizes extraordinárias que conhecem como poucas a arte de dar vida às personagens da trama.

I immediately went to see. Having Juliane Moore and Natalie Portman together in a film (especially by Todd Haynes) seemed urgent to see. I didn’t regret a single second.
Twenty years ago Gracie (Moore is always remarkable and full of subtleties) was the protagonist of a scandal when she was caught having sex in a Pet Shop with a 13-year-old boy.
She became pregnant, served her sentence and is now married to Joe Yoo (Charles Melton), in an idyllic house in Savanah.
TV actress Elizabeth (Natalie Portman in a performance full of incredible details) arrives to create tension, who will play Gracie in a television film to be filmed in the coming weeks.
Elizabeth’s lab work is part detective, part researcher, part an invasive person. Her recovery from what happened, via tabloids of the time, interviews and essays, is one of the film’s highlights. Haynes’ camera knows how to place us inside the story. The mimetismo of Grace by Elizabeth is impressing.
I liked Melton’s work. He has no way of competing with the two women, but he makes Joe very distressed and a prisoner of his past. He’s doing very well.
Haynes is not given to great emotions or impact scenes. His dramas are extremely well constructed and are shown – always with impeccable photography, editing and music – to the anguish and delight of the viewer.
MAY DECEMBER is another great film by Todd Haynes.
With the complicity of two extraordinary actresses who know like few others the art of bringing the characters in the plot to life.
