Ocorreu esta semana no Universal City Walk IMAX Theatre, a primeira sessão de MEGALOPOLIS, de Francis Ford Coppola.
Com pouco mais de duas horas de projeção, o filme agradou convidados ilustres e críticos, tendo um longo aplauso final com a platéia de pé.
Coppola fez um emocionado discurso, aberto com a frase “I believe in America”, no qual o cineasta de O PODEROSO CHEFÃO, aos 85 anos, assegurou não ser este seu último filme.
Entre as celebridades presents, Al Pacino, Andy Garcia (declarou que “Esse cara é a razão pela qual todos nós fazemos filmes”), Nicolas Cage, Spike Jonze, Darren Aronofsky, Roger Corman, Anjelica Huston, Jon Favreau, Colleen Camp, entre outros.
O filme é narrado por Lawrence Fishborne e conta a história de um arquiteto (Adam Driver) que sonha reconstruir uma metrópole destruída por uma tragédia. Ele é César e tem como opositor o Prefeito Giancarlo Esposito. A atriz Nathalie Emmanuel faz o amor de César. Audrey Plaza é outro interesse romântico do personagem central. Segundo quem viu, há muito de ROMEU E JULIETA no roteiro de Coppola.
O elenco ainda tem Talia Shire, John Voight, Shia LaBeouf, Dustin Hoffman e Jason Schwartzmann.
MEGALOPOLIS será exibido no Festival de Cannes, no mês de maio.
The first screening of MEGALOPOLIS, by Francis Ford Coppola, took place this week at the Universal City Walk IMAX Theater.
With just over two hours of screening, the film pleased distinguished guests and critics, with a long final applause with the standing audience.
Coppola gave an emotional speech, opening with the phrase “I believe in America”, in which the 85-year-old GODFATHER filmmaker assured that this would not be his last film.
Among the celebrities present, Al Pacino, Andy Garcia (declared that “this guy is the reason we’re all making movies.”), Nicolas Cage, Spike Jonze, Darren Aronofsky, Roger Corman, Anjelica Huston, Jon Favreau, Colleen Camp, among others.
The film is narrated by Lawrence Fishborne and tells the story of an architect (Adam Driver) who dreams of rebuilding a metropolis destroyed by a tragedy. He is César and his opponent is Cicero, the Mayor (Giancarlo Esposito). Actress Nathalie Emmanuel plays Julia, César’s love. Audrey Plaza is another romantic interest of the central character. According to those who have seen it, there is a lot of ROMEO AND JULIET in Coppola’s script.
The cast also includes Talia Shire, John Voight, Shia LaBeouf, Dustin Hoffman and Jason Schwartzmann.
MEGALOPOLIS will be shown at the Cannes Film Festival in May.
