Aqui ele se debruça sobre um episódio real para trazer uma história inspiradora do esporte. É um gênero com múltiplos filmes maravilhosos. Esse se inscreve na lista. Me emocionou profundamente em vários momentos.
No auge da Grande Depressão, jovens da Universidade de Washington, Seattle viram na equipe de remo a chance de conseguir pagar os estudos e ter alojamento e comida.
Um deles é Joe Rantz (ótimo trabalho do ator inglês Callum Turner (visto primeiro na ótima série THE CAPTURE).
O veteranos treinador da equipe, Al Ubrickson é vivido pelo ótimo Joel Edgerton. O elenco ainda tem Peter Guinness, Hadley Robinson, Courtney Hanggeller e Sam Strike.
Nestes tempos de intolerância política, racismo exacerbado e ascensão de ideologia fascistas, o episódio histórico dos meninos do remo dos EUA é ainda mais inspirador.
Valores como o trabalho em equipe, a lealdade, o espírito esportivo, o papel da imprensa, a luta pela sobrevivência estão todos presentes, de forma edificante e emocionante, no filme de Clooney.
O humanismo dos personagens e das situações é um ativo gigante do trabalho do Clooney cineasta.

The film THE BOYS IN THE BOAT, which George Clooney produced and directed based on a book by Daniel Jame Brown about the rowing team that represented the United States at the Berlin Olympics in 1936, is showing on NOW (and several other streaming services).
I consider Clooney an incredible persona in today’s Hollywood. A hugely successful actor, every now and then he goes behind the camera bringing us top-notch films, such as GOOD NIGHT, GOOD LUCK and SIRIANA.
Here he focuses on a real episode to bring an inspiring story about the sport. It’s a genre with multiple wonderful films. This one joins the list. It moved me deeply at several moments.
At the height of the Great Depression, young people at the University of Washington, Seattle saw the rowing team as a chance to pay for their studies and have room and food.
