Está em cartaz na Apple TV+, o thriller policial DAMAGED, dirigido pelo cineasta britânico Terry McDonough. É mais um filme sobre crimes de um serial killer.
Samuel L. Jackson (sempre interessante) vive o Detetive de Chicago Dan Lawson, que é chamado à Escócia para ajudar o Policial Glenn Boyd (Gianni Capaldi) a prender um assassino em série que comete crimes exatamente iguais aos cometidos na Windy City americana.
Lawson e Boyd suspeitam do misterioso Mc Gregor (John Hannah), um sujeito misterioso que mora nos arredores da pequena localidade onde os crimes voltam a ocorrer. Os detetives chama para ajudar o aposentado terceiro de Lawson, Bravo (Vincent Cassell). Os três juntos dão à investigação um ar renovado em relação às dezenas de filmes com histórias similares.
São quatro atores capazes atuando um uma trama policial. Isso segura o espectador por boa parte dos 97 minutos do filme.
Seguidamente, a gente tem a sensação de que os finais de histórias policiais caem na armadilha de tentar propor um twist final que surpreenda o espectador.
DAMAGED é mais um destes filmes. Quem curte o gênero descobre o twist bem antes dele se revelar na tela.
Isso retira a surpresa e coloca o filme na vala comum do “deja vu”.

Samuel L. Jackson (always interesting) plays Chicago Detective Dan Lawson, who is called to Scotland to help Police Officer Glenn Boyd (Gianni Capaldi) arrest a serial killer who commits crimes exactly the same as those committed in the American Windy City.
Lawson and Boyd suspect the mysterious Mc Gregor (John Hannah), a mysterious guy who lives on the outskirts of the small town where the crimes reoccur. The detectives call for help from Lawson’s retired third party, Bravo (Vincent Cassell). The three together give the investigation a fresh look compared to the dozens of films with similar stories.
So, we have four capable actors acting in a police plot. This holds the viewer for much of the film’s 97 minutes.
We often get the feeling that the endings of detective stories fall into the trap of trying to propose a final twist that surprises the viewer.
DAMAGED is another one of these films. Those who enjoy the genre discover the twist well before it reveals itself on screen.
This takes away the surprise and puts the film in the mass grave of “deja vu”.
