Está em cartaz no NOW, o thriller CULT KILLER, com Antonio Banderas e a britânica Alice Eve.
Confesso que quase desisti no início do filme. O primeiro encontro do Detetive Particular Mikeal Tallini (Banderas), com a alcoólatra Cassie Holt (Eve), em um bar de Dublin é bem fraquinha.
O P.I. regenerado (ex-alcoólatra) resolve adotar a simpática Holt como sua pupila. E lhe dá um curso de como se tornar P.I.
Anos depois, o mentor é brutalmente assassinado pela misteriosa Jamie Douglas (Shelley Henning) e Cassie Holt vai liderar a caçada à assassina,
Nessa altura, o filme dá uma guinada interessante. Jamie, como Cassie são traumatizadas pelos abusos sexuais que sofreram, a primeira por uma gang de traficantes de mulheres de uma crueldade assustadora e a segunda por seu próprio pai.
Estabelecem uma ligação e vão lidar com o assunto quase juntas, a investigadora e a investigada.
Nada é muito aprofundado ou melhor elaborado.
Mas o “bond” entre as duas foi, sem dúvida, uma saída interessante do roteiro.
Achei que os flashbacks com Banderas ensinando Eve como ser policial são enfadonhos. Uma mera tentativa de aumentar os minutos de Banderas no filme, já que seu personagem morreu com dez minutos de filme.
CULT KILLER tem coisas boas. Poucas.
The thriller CULT KILLER is showing at NOW, with Antonio Banderas and the British Alice Eve.
I confess that I almost gave up at the beginning of the film. The first meeting of Private Detective Mikeal Tallini (Banderas), with the alcoholic Cassie Holt (Eve), in a Dublin bar is very weak.
The regenerated P.I. (former alcoholic) decides to adopt the friendly Holt as his pupil. And he gives her a course on how to become a P.I.
Years later, the mentor is brutally murdered by the mysterious Jamie Douglas (Shelley Henning) and Cassie Holt will lead the hunt for the killer,
At this point, the film takes an interesting turn. Jamie, like Cassie, are traumatized by the sexual abuse they suffered, the first by a gang of frighteningly cruel women traffickers and the second by their own father.
They establish a connection and will deal with the matter almost together, the investigator and the person being investigated.
Nothing is very in-depth or better elaborated.
But the “bond” between the two was, without a doubt, an interesting issue from the script.
I thought the flashbacks with Banderas teaching Eve how to be a police officer were boring. A mere attempt to increase Banderas’ minutes in the film, since his character died ten minutes into the film.
CULT KILLER has good things. A few.
