A Apple TV+ já tem o novo filme de Woody Allen, COUP DE CHANCE, rodado em Paris.
Aos 88 anos, Woody Allen segue um roteirista e cineasta cheio de ideias, sensibilidade, capacidade criativa e, para nossa alegria, aquele senso de humor muito próprio dele.
COUP DE CHANCE conta a história de uma jovem que vive o tédio de seu segundo casamento. Fanny (Lou de Laâge, ótima) é casada com o milionário ególatra Jean (Melville Popaud), um sujeito cuja fortuna tem origens meio escabrosas e que se orgulha em dizer, quando perguntado sobre o que faz, “deixo os ricos ainda mais ricos.”
Certa tarde, por acaso, Fanny encontra um jovem amor do passado, o escritor Alain (Niels Schneider), às voltas com um novo livro, separado e morando em Paris. Alain é tudo o que Jean não é. Dá flores, almoça num banco da praça, ouve Fanny e seus dilemas de vida e se declara apaixonado por ela há muitos anos.
Os dois vão ter um affair. Isso balança muito Fanny. Mas Jean tem solução para tudo.
Woody Allen tem entre seus melhores filmes o excelente MATCH POINT, que guarda vários pontos de contato com a história deste COUP DE CHANCE.
Allen segue sendo o criador de personagens encantadores. Agora, a mais atraente é a mãe de Fanny, Camille (a impagável Valerie Lemercier), uma ávida consumidora de livros policiais, apaixonada por Simenon e disposta a investigar os mistérios sobre o sumiço do apaixonado Alain.
Devo fazer uma nota sobre o senso de humor de Woody Allen. Quem leu a biografia dele sabe que ele iniciou sua cerrar como strand up comic em pequenos bares de Manhattan. Muitas vezes ele é conceituado como humorista e tem realmente escritos com piadas maravilhosas. Mas muito cedo, ele migrou para o drama enfocando as mazelas do ser humano. Faz isso magistralmente, sem abandonar a capacidade de volta e meia inserir uma situação cômica muito engraçada.
COUP DE CHANCE é muito mais um drama que uma comédia. Mas as situações cômicas – inclusive um final magistral – nos lembram a todo momento quem está por trás das câmeras.

COUP DE CHANCE tells the story of a young woman who experiences the boredom of her second marriage. Fanny (Lou de Laâge, great) is with the selfish millionaire Jean (Melville Popaud), a guy whose fortune has somewhat lurid origins and who is proud to say, when asked about what he does, “I make the rich even richer. “
One afternoon, by chance, Fanny meets a young love from her past, the writer Alain (Niels Schneider), working on a new book, separated and living in Paris. Alain is everything Jean is not. Allen continues to be the creator of charming characters. Now, the most attractive is Fanny’s mother, Camille (the priceless Valerie Lemercier), an avid consumer of detective books, in love with Simenon and willing to investigate the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of the passionate Alain.
I must make a note about Woody Allen’s sense of humor. Anyone who has read his biography knows that he began his career as a strand up comic in small bars in Manhattan. He is often regarded as a humorist and has written really wonderful jokes. But very early on, he switched to drama focusing on the ills of human beings. He does this masterfully, without abandoning his ability to occasionally insert a very funny comical situation.
COUP DE CHANCE is much more of a drama than a comedy. But the comical situations – including a masterful ending – constantly remind us of who is behind the cameras.
They say this could be Woody Allen’s last film.
COUP DE CHANCE is so well done that it would be a great last film.
But I hope it isn’t. Cinema still really needs a lot of Woody Allen.
