Vi o primeiro capítulo de ACIMA DE QUALQUER SUSPEITA, nova série da Apple TV+, feita a partir do maior sucesso em livro do escritor ScottTurow. Sim, o livro já foi um filme de grande sucesso, feito em 1990, por Alan J. Pakula, com Harrison Ford de protagonista.
Acho a trama de Turow tão brilhante que o fascínio dos conflitos entre os personagens segue intacto na nova super produção da Apple TV+. Mas é inegável que o espectador, a cada fato novo na telinha, fica com a sensação de “déjà vu”.
Ainda recordo quando li o livro. Me deixou absolutamente fascinado.
Jake Gyllenhall vive o Promotor de Chicago Rusty Sabich, um expoente do escritório comandado pelo experiente e problemático Raymond Horgan (Bill Camp). Os promotores estão no auge de uma batalha política, onde o ambicioso Nico Della Guardia (O-T Fagbenle) quer derrubar Horgan e seu parceiro Tommy Molto (Peter Sasgaard) quer o lugar de Sabich,
Quando chega a notícia do assassinato da jovem promotora Carolyn Polhemus (a norueguesa Renata Reinsve), o equilíbrio precário se rompe completamente. As brigas e confrontos explodem dentro e fora do escritório.
A lista de personagens notáveis ainda tem a deprimida esposa de Sabich, Barbara (a etíope Ruth Nega), a investigadora Mia Winslow (Gabby Beans) e o legista Kumagai (James Hiroyuki Liao). Surpreendentemente, a produção optou por suprimir um dos melhores personagens do texto original, o advogado de defesa Sandy Stern, Aqui o próprio Sabich vai se defender. Achei uma opção meio estranha e arriscada.
É perfeitamente compreensível que a luta dos produtores (entre os quais David E, Kelley, J.J.Abrahams e o próprio Scott Turow) seja por criar novidades para quem viu o ótimo filme original. Até onde vai o esforço de ousadia e inovação.
O certo é que esse novo ACIMA DE QUALQUER SUSPEITA iniciou muito bem. O cast muito mais inclusivo é outro ativo do novo filme.
Mesmo para quem viu muitas vezes o original.
