LONGLEGS – VÍNCULO MORTAL: Thriller Muito Bem Feito Mas Longe de Sua Fonte de Inspiração

A Apple TV colocou no streaming o thriller LONGLEGS – VÍCULO MORTAL, do cineasta americano Osgood Perkins, um dos títulos que fez maior barulho esse ano na terra do Tio Sam.

Barulho merecido, me apresso por iniciar dizendo. O filme de Perkins é estiloso, cheio de ideias (óbvio que muitas funcionam e algumas não), prende o espectador como se fosse um imã, e se baseia em ótimos trabalhos do duo central, o outrora excelente Nicolas Cage e a jovem Maika Monroe.

É impossível ver o filme e não notar que a inspiração de todos foi a obra prima O SILÊNCIO DOS INOCENTES, tantos são os diálogos, cenas e soluções nitidamente inspiradas no trabalho primoroso de Jonathan Demme. Mas aqui, cumpre dizer que, ao menos na minha opinião, o novo filme ficou a enorme distância de seu antecessor ilustre. Na expressão popular, “os dois disputam campeonatos diferentes”.

Mesmo assim, se vê LONGLEGS com interesse crescente. Temos uma série de crimes, legistas bem cheios de ideias, um vilão psicopata e maluquete pouco ortodoxo (ótimo trabalho de Cage muito maquiado) e uma jovem agente do FBI trazida por seu mentor e chefe para resolver uma bronca gigantesca logo no início de sua carreira.

Um dos pontos fortes do filme é a agente Lee Harker. Ela tem relação com o vilão desde sua infância e vai ser a chave para resolver os crimes. Maika Monroe está em quase todas as cenas do filme, como se tivesse dificuldade em respirar. Esse “sufocamento” passa ao espectador que vê a trama igualmente com dificuldade em respirar.

Ao contrário do filme de Demme, LONGLEGS opta por violência explícita em muitas cenas. Isso apenas evidencia a diferença entre criador e criatura.

Em um balanço, vejo muitos méritos em LONGLEGS. Para quem curte thrillers tensos e serial killers originais, o filme é um prato cheio.

Merece muito o sucesso que vem fazendo.

Apple TV has put the thriller LONGLEGS, by American filmmaker Osgood Perkins, on streaming, one of the titles that made the biggest splash this year in Uncle Sam’s land.

Well-deserved buzz, I hasten to start by saying. Perkins’ film is stylish, full of ideas (of course many of them work and some don’t), it grabs the viewer like a magnet, and is based on great work by the central duo, the once excellent Nicolas Cage and the young Maika Monroe.

It’s impossible to watch the film and not notice that everyone was inspired by the masterpiece SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, so many are the dialogues, scenes and solutions clearly inspired by the work of Jonathan Demme. But here, it must be said that, in my opinion, the new film fell far short of its illustrious predecessor. In the popular expression, “the two compete in different championships”.

Even so, LONGLEGS is watched with increasing interest. We have a series of crimes, forensic experts full of ideas, an unorthodox psychopathic and crazy villain (a great job by Cage with a lot of makeup) and a young FBI agent brought in by her mentor and boss to solve a huge mess right at the beginning of her career.

One of the film’s strong points is Agent Lee Harker. She has had a relationship with the villain since her childhood and will be the key to solving the crimes. Maika Monroe is in almost every scene of the film, as if she had difficulty breathing. This “suffocation” is transmitted to the viewer who watches the plot with equal difficulty breathing.

Unlike Demme’s film, LONGLEGS opts for explicit violence in many scenes. This only highlights the difference between creator and creature.

Overall, I see many merits in LONGLEGS. For those who enjoy tense thrillers and original serial killers, the film is a real treat.

It fully deserves the success it has had.
