A série BAD MONKEY, da Apple TV chega ao seu quinto capítulo cada vez melhor.
Trata-se de uma produção que escolheu misturar muitos clichês dos filmes policiais noir: detetive particular mambembe, femme fatale, vigarista dando golpe na seguradora, corrupção policial, ocultismo comercializado, ganância imobiliária e outros temas.
Tudo isso em uma belíssima paisagem nos Keys, ao sul da Flórida.
Vince Vaughn, Natalie Martinez, Rob Delaney, Michelle Monaghan, Jodie-Turner Smith, Ronald Peet, John Ortiz e Tom Novicki (que faz uma narração em off ótima) são os principais nomes do cast.
Já escrevi aqui que tenho um grande fascínio sobre tramas policiais envolvendo os P.I.s (Private Investigators).
Claro que aqui estamos longe dos clássicos Phillip Marlowe ou Sam Spade. O P.I. Andrew Yancy não pode ser mais atrapalhado e hábil em se meter em confusões de toda ordem.
O melhor é que o roteiro, mesmo passando por temas escabrosos, jamais perde o bom humor. Às vezes, bem dark, mas de qualquer sorte, divertido.
Chegamos à metade da trama.
Tomara que siga essa ascensão de qualidade.
Pode ser que a gente veja outra aventura do P.I. Yancy e sua namorada legista no futuro.
The Apple TV series BAD MONKEY reaches its fifth episode and is getting better and better.
This production chose to mix many clichés from noir crime films: a sleazy private detective, several femme fatales, a con artist ripping off an insurance company, police corruption, commercialised occultism, real estate greed and other themes.
All this in a beautiful landscape in the Keys, south of Florida.
Vince Vaughn, Natalie Martinez, Rob Delaney, Michelle Monaghan, Jodie-Turner Smith, Ronald Peet, John Ortiz and Tom Novicki (who does a great voice-over narration) are the main names in the cast.
I’ve already written here that I’m fascinated by police plots involving P.I.s (Private Investigators).
Of course, here we’re far from the classic Phillip Marlowe or Sam Spade. P.I. Andrew Yancy couldn’t be more clumsy and skilled at getting into all kinds of trouble.
The best thing is that the script, even when dealing with gruesome themes, never loses its sense of humor. Sometimes it’s quite dark, but it’s still fun.
We’ve reached the halfway point of the plot.
I hope it continues to grow in quality.
We might see another adventure with P.I. Yancy and his forensic girlfriend in the future.
