O filme narra a história de um veterano de guerra do Iraque que vai a uma cidadezinha do interior dos Estados Unidos com o propósito de soltar seu primo preso por posse de drogas.
A vida de Terry Richmond (Aaron Piere, muito bom) não vai ser fácil, porque ele cai na rede de corrupção liderada pelo Chief Sandy Burnne (Don Johnson) e pelo magistrado vivido por James Cromwell.
O núcleo da história lembra a essência de RAMBO, de Ted Kotcheff, onde o veterano vivido por Sylvester Stallone é tratado como marginal pelos homens do Xerife local, até que a violência se descontrola.
Dou c’redito a REBEL RIDGE, porque o diretor ousou introduzir alguns elementos de originalidade, em certos ângulos de câmera (a cena inicial da bicicleta abalroada pela Polícia) , certos personagens (a ex-drogada que estuda direito para se recuperar, feita por AnnaSophia Robb) e certas abordagens meio idealistas, meio ingênuas.
As cenas de ação são muito boas e somente acrescentam tensão e suspense à narrativa.
Em um balanço final, REBEL RIDGE cumpre o que promete. É um thriller de ação caprichado.

The film tells the story of an Iraq war veteran who goes to a small town in the interior of the United States with the purpose of freeing his cousin, who is arrested for drug possession.
The life of Terry Richmond (Aaron Piere, very good) will not be easy, because he falls into the web of corruption led by Chief Sandy Burnne (Don Johnson) and the judge played by James Cromwell.
The core of the story is reminiscent of Ted Kotcheff‘s RAMBO, where the veteran played by Sylvester Stallone is treated as a criminal by the local Sheriff’s men, until the violence gets out of control.
I give REBEL RIDGE credit because the director dared to introduce some elements of originality, in certain camera angles (the opening scene of the bike being hit by the police), certain characters (the ex-drug addict who studies law to recover, played by AnnaSophia Robb) and certain approaches that are half-idealistic, half-naive.
The action scenes are very good and only add tension and suspense to the narrative.
In the end, REBEL RIDGE delivers what it promises. It is a well-crafted action thriller.
