Blake Lively vive a jovem Lily Bloom, dona de uma floricultura em Boston. Ela vive um relacionamento abusivo com Ryle Kincaid (o diretor Baldoni), um neuro cirurgião que volta e meia perde o juízo e espanca a amada.
A situação se complica ainda mais quando ela encontra seu primeiro amor, o carinhoso Atlas (Brandon Sklenar).
Óbvio que nas imagens de seu namoro adolescente, Lily e Atlas são encarnados por outros atores, Isabella Ferrer e Alex Neustaedter.
Não há nenhuma grande inovação nas abordagens do roteiro. Mas tudo é bem feito e segura nossa atenção.
É atribuída ao genial cineasta francês François Truffaut, a frase segundo a qual “nada é tão pungente quanto uma história de amor que não deu certo”. Vide o clássico A MULHER DO LADO, que Truffaut fez com Fanny Ardant e Gerard Depardieu, É de cortar os pulsos com uma colher antiga.
É ASSIM QUE ACABA nunca chega próximo desta perfeição dramática.
Mas é um filme que se vê sem problemas.

Blake Lively plays the young Lily Bloom, owner of a flower shop in Boston.
She is in an abusive relationship with Ryle Kincaid (director Baldoni), a neurosurgeon who often loses his mind and beats his beloved.
The situation becomes even more complicated when she meets her first love, the affectionate Atlas (Brandon Sklenar).
Of course, in the images of their teenage romance, Lily and Atlas are played by other actors, Isabella Ferrer and Alex Neustaedter.
There is no great innovation in the script’s approaches. But everything is well done and holds our attention.
The brilliant French filmmaker François Truffaut is credited with saying that “nothing is as poignant as a love story that didn’t work out.” Take the classic THE WOMAN NEXT DOOR, which Truffaut made with Fanny Ardant and Gerard Depardieu. It’s enough to make you cut your wrists with an old spoon.
IT ENDS WITH US never comes close to this dramatic perfection.
But it’s a film that you can watch without any problems.
