Um casal americano residente na Europa, durante umas férias italianas conhece um casal britânico, com algumas esquisitices. Tempos depois, com o casamento meio abalado, aceitam um convite para passar uns dias na casa de campo dos maluquinhos.
É evidente que à medida em que os dias avançam, as loucuras dos anfitriões vão vindo à tona. Abusos verbais e físicos com o filho, situações perigosas para os hóspedes, despreparo para receber pessoas na casa, só para contar o início do problemas.
James McAvoy tem se especializado em fazer loucos de todo gênero, desde que Shyamalan o colocou no seu filme SPLIT. Aisling Franciosi faz a esposa dele, com sorrisos bem denunciadores de que algo não corre bem. O casal vítima é vivido pela ótima McKenzie Davis e por Scoot McNairy. As crianças são Dan Hough e Alix West Lefler.
Colocar em cena tanta loucura e maldade em um ambiente paradisíaco foi uma boa saída do roteiro. Há um conflito entre a beleza do cenário e as maluquices dos donos da casa.
Como todas as produções do estúdio BLUMHOUSE, acho o final sanguinolento demais e violento demais.
Mas é inegável que o filme atinge seu propósito maior: dar duas horas de suspense e terror para o espectador exatamente como a fria em que se meteram Louise e Ben.

An American couple living in Europe meets a British couple with some oddities during an Italian vacation. Some time later, with their marriage somewhat shaken, they accept an invitation to spend a few days at the crazy couple’s country house.
It is clear that as the days go by, the hosts’ crazy behavior begins to come to light. Verbal and physical abuse of their son, dangerous situations for the guests, unpreparedness to receive people in the house, just to tell the story of the beginning of the problems.
James McAvoy has specialized in playing crazy people of all kinds, ever since Shyamalan cast him in his film SPLIT. Aisling Franciosi plays his wife, with smiles that reveal that something is not right. The victim couple is played by the excellent McKenzie Davis and Scoot McNairy. The children are Dan Hough and Alix West Lefler.
Putting so much madness and evil on stage in a paradisiacal setting was a good way to do it. There is a conflict between the beauty of the scenery and the madness of the owners of the house.
Like all productions by the BLUMHOUSE studio, I think the ending is too bloody and too violent.
But it is undeniable that the film achieves its main purpose: to give the viewer two hours of suspense and terror, just like the mess Louise and Ben got themselves into.
