A Apple TV+ estreou a aguardada série DISCLAIMER, produzida por Cate Blanchett e Alfonso Cuarón e dirigida pelo oscarizado diretor mexicano ganhador de quatro Prêmios da Academia.
O título nacional mais uma vez é pretensioso. DIFAMAÇÃO não tem nada a ver com DISCLAIMER, um título perfeito pela metáfora e pelo conteúdo
A atriz superlativa Cate Blanchett encarna a premiada escritora Catherine Ravenscroft, charmosa até a alma, fazendo um discurso de aceitação do prêmio atribuído a seu mais recente livro, ou preparando um jantar prosaico de filé de linguado com salada verde em sua luxuosa morada londrina .
A vida que perfeita com o marido Robert (Sasha Baron Cohen, outra vez soberbo em um papel sério) e o filho Nicholas (Kodi Smith-McFee) recebe uma bomba : um pacote contendo um livro intitulado UM ESTRANHO PEFEITO, acompanhado de fotos dela nua, anos atrás em uma férias italianas.
O remetente, logo se sabe, é o quase maltrapilho Stephen Brigstrocke (Kevin Kline, incrível), um professor universitário aposentado cuja missão na vida é vingar a morte do filho Jonathan (Stephen Partridge), justamente o autor das fotos sensuais de Catherine. O professor ainda amarga a morte por câncer da esposa Nancy (uma excelente Lesley Manville), nove anos atrás.
A trama é envolta de muitos mistérios, o que somente torna os dois primeiros capítulos disponíveis ainda mais atraentes e dignos de degustação lenta e apreciada.
Os talentos de Cate, Alfonso, Kevin, Sasha e Lesley formam uma verdadeira seleção. A eles vem se somar a juventude e a beleza de Leila George (que vive Catherine mais jovem). A filha da atriz Greta Scacchi e do ator Vincent D’Onofrio dá um show a parte.
Os múltiplos talentos crescem ainda mais pelo trabalho em equipe sob a batuta de Cuarón , mestre na direção de elencos estelares. O livro em que se baseia o filme, de autoria da produtora londrina da BBC, Renee Knight é uma base extraordinária para a série.

Superlative actress Cate Blanchett plays award-winning writer Catherine Ravenscroft, charming to the core, giving an acceptance speech for the award to her latest book, or preparing a prosaic dinner of sole fillet with green salad in her luxurious London home.
The perfect life with her husband Robert (Sasha Baron Cohen, once again superb in a serious role) and son Nicholas (Kodi Smith-McFee) receives a bombshell: a package containing a book entitled A PERFECT STRANGER, accompanied by nude photos of her, years ago on an Italian vacation.
The sender, we soon learn, is the almost ragged Stephen Brigstrocke (Kevin Kline, incredible), a retired university professor whose mission in life is to avenge the death of his son Jonathan (Stephen Partridge), who took Catherine’s sensual photos. The professor is still bitter about the death of his wife Nancy (an excellent Lesley Manville) from cancer nine years ago.
The plot is shrouded in mystery, which only makes the first two chapters available even more attractive and worthy of a slow and appreciative tasting.
The talents of Cate, Alfonso, Kevin, Sasha and Lesley form a true dream team. To them is added the youth and beauty of Leila George (who plays a younger Catherine). The daughter of actress Greta Scacchi and actor Vincent D’Onofrio puts on a show of her own.
The multiple talents grow even more through teamwork under the baton of Cuarón, a master at directing stellar casts. The book on which the film is based, written by London-based BBC producer Renee Knight, is an extraordinary basis for the series.
DISCLAIMER has five chapters left.
I can already feel that it will end too soon and leave us without such beauty and dramatic force.
