A NETFLIX está exibindo a ótima série IRRACIONAL, com oito episódios todos já disponíveis.
O ótimo Coman Domingo vive o âncora substituto da CNN Muncie Daniels, um sujeito conhecido por comprar brigas nas horas erradas defendendo até o fim suas convicções. Buscando um emprego mais permanente, em processo de separação da esposa e cada vez mais distante do filho, ele aluga uma cabana para um período sabático, onde pretende escrever um livro.
Muncie é o cara errado, no lugar errado na hora errada. Na cabana ao lado está o líder supremacista branco Mark Simon. Depois de curta interação, Muncie encontra o corpo esquartejado de Simon. Dois assassinos mascarados tentam matar Muncie que foge e vai a Polícia.
Sua vida desaba em minutos. Os policiais brancos não acreditam nele, o tratam como suspeito, o FBI vê nele a chance de capturar peixes graúdos do movimento racista e os verdadeiros culpados enxergam Muncie como o “bode expiatório” perfeito.
Realmente a série lembra muito a clássica (depois transformada em filme) O FUGITIVO. Enquanto busca os culpados, Muncie é obrigado a fugir sem parar.
A série é muito boa em entrar no movimento supremacista branco, mostrando coisas raramente vistas e realmente assustadoras.
Acho que oito episódios de uma hora foi uma duração um pouco longa demais. A ótima história caberia em menor duração.
Mas THE MADNESS (título original) cumpre integralmente o que promete. Há tiros, perseguições, assassino frios e calculistas, mocinhos ingênuos, dramas familiares pungentes, lealdades acima de qualquer coisa e , claro, a loucura que vida de Muncie virou.
O tema do homem errado já gerou muitos clássicos. Hitchcock amava o assunto, como mostra o clássico THE WRONG MAN, o maior clássico a respeito, com um Henry Fonda notável.
Corra e fuja com Muncie Daniels. Vale muito a pena.
NETFLIX is showing the excellent series MADNESS, with eight episodes all already available.
The great Coman Domingo plays CNN substitute anchor Muncie Daniels, a guy known for picking fights at the wrong times and defending his convictions to the end. Looking for a more permanent job, in the process of separating from his wife and increasingly distant from his son, he rents a cabin for a sabbatical, where he intends to write a book.
Muncie is the wrong guy, in the wrong place at the wrong time. In the cabin next door is white supremacist leader Mark Simon. After a short interaction, Muncie finds Simon’s dismembered body. Two masked killers try to kill Muncie, who runs away and goes to the police.
His life falls apart in minutes. The white police officers don’t believe him, treating him as a suspect, the FBI sees in him the chance to capture big fish of the racist movement and the real culprits see Muncie as the perfect “scapegoat”.
The series is really reminiscent of the classic (later turned into a movie) THE FUGITIVE. While searching for the culprits, Muncie is forced to run away non-stop.
The series is very good at getting into the white supremacist movement, showing rarely seen and truly frightening things.
I think eight one-hour episodes was a bit too long. The great story would fit in a shorter length.
But MADNESS fully delivers on what it promises. There are gunshots, chases, cold and calculating killers, naive good guys, poignant family dramas, loyalties above all else and, of course, the madness that Muncie’s life has become.
The theme of the wrong man has already generated many classics. Hitchcock loved the subject, as shown in the classic THE WRONG MAN, the greatest classic on the subject, with a remarkable Henry Fonda.
Run and escape with Muncie Daniels. It’s well worth it.
