Vi os quatro primeiros capítulos de THE LANDMAN, no Paramount+. Trata-se de mais uma saga concebida, produzida e dirigida pelo mago do momento, Ty Sheridan. O cara está fazendo YELLOWSTONE, LIONESS e agora LANDMAN.
O cenário desta vez é o Texas e os permanentes conflitos gerados pela exploração do petróleo e gás. Brigas com os donos de terras, cartéis de drogas, milhares de trabalhadores que arriscam avisa todos os dias por uma remuneração atrativa, divórcios e paixões.
Sheridan é mestre em fazer este tipo de saga americana. A certa altura a gente tem certeza de que os personagens existem e quase quer ajudar nos problemas deles. O roteiro de Sheridan (e equipe) é recheado de diálogos que a gente gostaria de guardar na memória.
Billy Bob Thornton vive Tommy Norris, um sujeito que largou a família para se jogar de cabeça em ser o número dois na empresa do magnata Monty Miller (John Hamm, sempre ótimo). Thornton é daqueles raros atores extraordinários que segura qualquer trama em alto estilo. Fez isso na excepcional GOLIATH e faz aqui outra vez.
O elenco excelente ainda tem Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, James Jordan, Kayla Wallace, Colm Feore e Paulina Chaves.
Um grave problema a cada dia. Assim é o universo do petróleo no Texas.
LANDMAN terá dez episódios. Quatro já estão disponíveis.
Por enquanto, considero uma das melhores de 2024.
I watched the first four episodes of THE LANDMAN on Paramount+. This is yet another saga conceived, produced and directed by the wizard of the moment, Ty Sheridan. The guy is making YELLOWSTONE, LIONESS and now LANDMAN.
This time the setting is Texas and the constant conflicts generated by oil and gas exploration. Fights with landowners, drug cartels, thousands of workers who risk their lives every day for attractive pay, divorces and passions.
Sheridan is a master at making this type of American saga. At a certain point we are certain that the characters exist and we almost want to help with their problems. The script by Sheridan (and his team) is full of dialogues that we would like to keep in our memories.
Billy Bob Thornton plays Tommy Norris, a guy who left his family to throw himself head first into being number two at the company of tycoon Monty Miller (John Hamm, always great). Thornton is one of those rare extraordinary actors who carries any plot with great style. He did it in the exceptional GOLIATH and he does it again here.
The excellent cast also includes Demi Moore, Ali Larter, Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, James Jordan, Kayla Wallace, Colm Feore and Paulina Chaves.
A serious problem every day. That’s the world of oil in Texas.
LANDMAN will have ten episodes. Four are already available.
For now, I consider it one of the best of 2024.
