NEGAÇÃO (DENIAL), de Mick Jackson (o diretor de O GUARDA-COSTAS, L.A.STORY e TEMPLE GRADIN, excelente telefilme da HBO com Claire Danes) tinha tudo para ser um ótimo filme de tribunal.
Excelente elenco, inciando por Rachel Weisz, a inglesa de JARDINEIRO FIEL e BELEZA ROUBADA. Seguindo pelo extraordinário Tom Wilkinson (mais de 70 indicações e 24 prêmios internacionais de interpretação) e finalizando pelo cada vez melhor Andrew Scott (o Moriarty do SHERLOCK da BBC).
O roteiro, baseado em uma história real de um julgamento foi escrito pelo premiado David Hare (O LEITOR e AS HORAS) e a própria escritora enfocada no filme Deborah Lipstadt, baseado em seu livro “História em Julgamento : Meu Dia na Corte com um Negador do Holocausto”.
Pois o filme superou tudo o que se esperava porque soube desenvolver sua história cheia de atrativos, de uma forma inteligente, emocionante e cinematograficamente brilhante.
O humanismo do enfoque sobre o processo sofrido pela escritora e sua luta pela verdade (mais uma protagonista admirável pela sua força moral), ao lado de sua equipe de advogados é simplesmente irretocável.
Entre tantos temas relevantes que o filme aborda, o tema da liberdade de expressão talvez tenha sido o pano de fundo que sustentou a narrativa de NEGAÇÃO para elevar sua qualidade e interesse ao ponto de diferenciá-lo dos dramas de tribunal mais comuns. O roteiro soube avançar perfeitamente em sua descrição do julgamento para dar o fecho na história como ela tinha que ser.
NEGAÇÃO é um filme recomendável sob todos os aspectos. Para advogados e magistrados por certo. Para jornalistas, escritores e historiadores, por óbvio. Para quem se interessa pelo ser humano e suas mazelas, passadas, atuais e futuras, evidentemente. Impecável.

Excellent cast, starring Rachel Weisz, the Brittish actress of THE CONSTANT GARDENER and STOLEN BEAUTY. Following by the extraordinary Tom Wilkinson (more than 70 nominations and 24 international interpreting awards) and finalizing by the ever better Andrew Scott (the Moriarty of the BBC’s SHERLOCK).
The script, based on a true story of a trial was written by award-winning David Hare (THE READER and THE HOURS) and the writer Deborah Lipstadt, based on her book “History on Trial: My Day at Court with a Denier Of the Holocaust. ”
But the film surpassed everything that was expected because it knew how to develop its history full of attractive, in an intelligent, exciting and cinematographically brilliant way.
The humanism of the focus on the legal suit suffered by the writer and her struggle for truth (another admirable protagonist for her moral strength), alongside with her team of lawyers is simply irredeemable.
Among so many relevant topics that the film addresses, the theme of freedom of expression may have been the background that sustained the narrative of Denial to raise its quality and interest to the point of differentiating it from the most common court dramas. The script knew how to advance perfectly in its description of the judgment to give the closing in the history as it had to be.
DENIAL is a film that is recommended in all aspects. For lawyers and magistrates for sure. For journalists, writers and historians, of course. For those who are interested in human beings and their miseries, past, present and future, of course. Impeccable.
