Entrou em cartaz nos cinemas americanos (os poucos abertos) e foi lançado em Bluray GODFATHER, CODA: THE DEATH OF MICHAEL CORLEONE, a revisão que Francis Ford Coppola, depois de 30 anos do lançamento fez de O PODEROSO CHEFÃO III.
Confesso que sou das pessoas que mais gosta de O PODEROSO CHEFÃO III. Lembro que na época do lançamento (vi o filme no Cine Comodoro em São Paulo, a maior tela de cinema fora as salas IMAX) e sai do cinema simplesmente hipnotizado. Achei o opus III da Família Corleone uma tragédia impressionante, uma verdadeira ópera do cinema.
Por isto, me decepcionei quando li as críticas que afirmavam ser o pior filme da trilogia, massacravam a atuação da jovem Sofia Coppola (no papel essencial de Mary Corleone). Sofia deu a volta por cima, estabelecendo uma das mais bem sucedidas carreiras de cineasta da atualidade, com filmes maravilhosos e extremamente autorais.
Apenas para se ter uma ideia, o Washington Post escreveu sobre o filme na época: “o filme não é apenas uma decepção, é um fracasso de proporções devastadoras, que “mancha o que veio antes”.
Claro que a falta de Robert Duvall (que vivia o icônico advogado Tom Hagen) por questões salariais foi gigante, mas o elenco, além de Pacino e Sofia, tinha Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Andy Garcia, George Hamilton, Elli Wallach, Joe Mantegna, Bridget Fonda, Raff Vallone (um canastrão de fato) e Helmut Berger. Uma verdadeira seleção de atores.
E há a cena do grito mudo de Michael na escadaria da Ópera. É uma cena que vale o filme.
A atual versão CODA tem 17 minutos a menos que a lançada nos cinemas. Mesmo assim, são 2h47min. O título presta homenagem ao título original do livro de Mario Puzzo. CODA é um termo musical relativo ao fechamento de uma peça.
O mínimo que posso dizer é que estou louco para ver este GODFATHER, CODA.
