Eu sempre acho engraçado quando alguma pessoa me diz que passou horas olhando o catálogo da NETFLIX e não encontrou nenhum título que lhe interessasse. Cada vez que me coloco a olhar as dezenas de filmes e séries que são lançados a cada semana, me deparo com uma multiplicidade de títulos altamente interessantes.
A ESCAVAÇÃO (THE DIG), filme inglês de 2021, dirigido pelo cineasta, ator e roteirista Suíço Simon Stone (A FILHA), por qualquer ângulo que se olhe, é um grande filme, daqueles que delicia a gente enquanto vê e deixa muita coisa para reflexão posterior.
Ralph Fiennes, excepcional ator inglês (indicado ao Oscar e ganhador do BAFTA por sua extraordinária criação em A LISTA DE SCHINDLER) vive o “escavador” profissional Basil Brown que vive na Inglaterra pesquisando objetos antigos enterrados em solo inglês. Seu trabalho de excelência é subestimado por sua falta de formação e estudos, o que lhe impõe trabalhos a preços baixos e total falta de reconhecimento.
Ela é Carrey Mullingan, uma ótima atriz londrina de 36 anos (parece muito mais idosa no filme, mercê da qualidade de sua interpretação) vista em AN EDUCATION e AS SUFRAGISTAS.
Um dia ele é chamado por uma viúva que mora no condado de Suton Hoo, bem quando a Segunda Guerra Mundial está por iniciar. A Sra. Edith Pretty mora com seu filho pequeno Robert (Archie Barnes, ótimo) e desconfia que algumas elevações em seu imóvel podem ocultar tesouros arqueológicos.
Eles são duas pessoas mal tratadas pela vida. Estão se encaminhando para o fim da vida machucados por dramas e fatos que lhes roubaram os sonhos. Esta relação – estritamente profissional mas com um afeto incrível – mudará para sempre suas vidas.
