O ator londrino David Suchet já viveu o Detetive belga Hercule Poirot em 70 episódios ao longo das 13 temporadas que a série inglesa produzida pela LWT em exibição no BRITBOX.
Já vi muitos episódios da série e sempre termino com a sensação (comum em séries de TV) que tudo é muito bem feito, mas nunca são permitidos grandes vôos criativos. POIROT vai até ali. Nunca ousa demais. A vantagem é que cada episódio inicia e fecha uma história de um livro de Agatha Christie.
Esta semana vi o episódio que abre a décima terceira temporada. ELEPHANTS CAN REMEMBER, baseado em um dos livros de maior sucesso de Agatha Christie. Poirot se envolve em dois casos paralelos. Um ex-psiquiatra é encontrada morto no Instituto que fundou e que hoje é dirigido por seu filho. E uma escritora de livros de mistério (olha aí toques autobiográficos) é procurada por uma rica dama inglesa que quer saber como ocorreu a morte dos pais da atual noiva de seu filho adotivo.
Claro que, durante as investigações de Poirot, os dois casos vão se revelar um só.
O elenco do episódio é incrível. Além de Suchet (sempre ótimo como Poirot), temos a ascendente Vanessa Kirby, uma veterana e quase irreconhecível Greta Scacchi, o excelente Iain Glen (JACK TAYLOR e GAME OF THRONES), Alexandra Dowling e Elsa Mollien.
Ao melhor estilo da velha escritora, a trama tem surpresas, reviravoltas, traições, romances secretos e criminosos inesperados. Muito divertido de se ver.
Gostei bastante deste episódio de POIROT. Vou visitá-lo mais vezes.

I have seen many episodes of the series and always end with the feeling (common in TV series) that everything is very well done, but great creative flights are never allowed. POIROT goes there. He never dares too much. The advantage is that each episode starts and closes a story from an Agatha Christie book.
This week I saw the episode that opens the thirteenth season. ELEPHANTS CAN REMEMBER, based on one of Agatha Christie‘s most successful books. Poirot is involved in two parallel cases. A former psychiatrist is found dead at the Institute he founded and which is now run by his son. And a mystery book writer (look at autobiographical touches) is approached by a wealthy English lady who wants to know how the parents of the current bride of her adopted son happened.
Of course, during the Poirot investigations, the two cases will turn out to be one.
The cast of the episode is incredible. In addition to Suchet (always great as Poirot), we have the ascendant Vanessa Kirby, a veteran and almost unrecognizable Greta Scacchi, the excellent Iain Glen (JACK TAYLOR and GAME OF THRONES), Alexandra Dowling and Elsa Mollien.
In the best style of the old writer, the plot has surprises, twists, betrayals, secret romances and unexpected criminals. Very fun to see.
I really liked this episode of POIROT. I will visit you more often.
