O ator e músico Keith Carradine (um dos três filhos do imortal ator John Carradine, junto com David “Kung Fu” e Robert) está fazendo 72 anos hoje.
Na minha memória, Keith tem dois momentos cinematográficos antológicos.
O primeiro é no maravilhoso filme de Robert Altman, NASHVILLE, onde seu personagem Tom Frank toma o centro do palco do festival de country music, no auge da efervescência política e, apenas com seu violão, canta a balada I’M EASY. Foi um instante sublime de harmonia entre imagem e música. Ganhou o Oscar de Melhor Canção e o LP da trilha de NASHVILLE de minha propriedade fez um sulco profundo na faixa número seis do Lado A.
O segundo é no ótimo (e subvalorizado) OS AMANTES DE MARIA, do russo Andrei Konchalovskiy, onde seu personagem (o caixeiro viajante Clarence Butts), depois de uma tarde de amor com a estonteante Maria (Nastassja Kinski), se senta em frente ao atormentado marido dela (JohnSavage magnífico) e, depois de contar que acabara de fazer amor com uma mulher linda e solitária, canta a música “MARIA’S EYES”. Outra cena antológica.
Há muito mais entre os 144 filmes em que Keith Carradine atuou. Sempre foi um ótimo ator.
Mas estes dois momentos estão indelevelmente gravados em meu coração.

In my memory, Keith has two anthological cinematic moments.
The first is in Robert Altman‘s wonderful film NASHVILLE, where his character Tom Frank takes center stage at the country music festival at the height of political effervescence and, with only his guitar, sings the ballad I’M EASY . It was a sublime moment of harmony between image and music. It won the Oscar for Best Song and the LP for the NASHVILLE soundtrack I own, made a deep groove on track number six on Side A.
The second is in Russian Andrei Konchalovskiy‘s great (and underrated) , MARIA’S LOVER, where his character (traveling salesman Clarence Butts), after an afternoon of lovemaking with the stunning Maria (Nastassja Kinski), sits down in front of her tormented husband (magnificent JohnSavage) and, after telling him that he had just made love to a beautiful and lonely woman, he sings the song “MARIA’S EYES“. Another anthological scene.
There are many more among the 144 films Keith Carradine starred in. He was always a great actor.
But these two moments are indelibly engraved in my heart.
