A Amazon Prime Video – em seu Canal Paramount + – está mostrando o thriller de ficção científica INFINITE, baseado no livro “The Reincarnation Papers”, dirigido pelo excelente cineasta Antoine Fuqua, estrelado por Mark Wahlberg, Chiwetel Ejiofor e a ascendente atriz inglesa Sofia Cookson.
A trama é muito mais do que complexa. Há dois grupos que se odeiam e lutam pela posse do “Ovo”, um artefato que pode destruir a humanidade que restou. Neste contexto um possível esquizofrênico Evan McCauley está enlouquecendo porque tem visões de lugares em que nunca esteve. Ele é raptado por membros do grupo dos infinites, alegando que ele é a reencarnação de seu líder Threadway. Ele é furiosamente perseguido por Bathurst e seus asseclas.
O filme adota uma narrativa em ritmo alucinante. Há inúmeras cenas de perseguições em alta velocidade. Há uma cena em que um carro esporte dirigido por Threadway é perseguido por um mega caminhão pilotado por Bathhurst. Só que a perseguição ocorre dentro de uma delegacia de Polícia, destruindo tudo que está pela frente.
Na linha da trilogia MATRIX e de O QUINTO ELEMENTO, INFINITE não deixa o espectador piscar. São múltiplos tiroteios, perseguições, lutas, duelos, saltos no espaço, tudo em ritmo alucinante.
O filme já foi muito mal recebido pela crítica.
Não concordo. Achei a produção impecável e a história digna de atenção.
Certamente não está entre os melhores filmes de Fuqua, mas na minha opinião merece ser visto. Os fãs de filmes de ficção científica, com certeza vão gostar.
Amazon Prime Video – on its Paramount + Channel – is showing the sci-fi thriller INFINITE, based on the book “The Reincarnation Papers“, directed by the excellent filmmaker Antoine Fuqua, starring Mark Wahlberg, Chiwetel Ejiofor and the rising young actress Sofia Cookson.
The plot is much more than complex. There are two groups that hate each other and fight for possession of the “Egg”, an artifact that can destroy the remaining humanity. In this context a possible schizophrenic Evan McCauley is going crazy because he has visions of places he has never been. He is kidnapped by members of the infinites group, claiming he is the reincarnation of their leader Threadway. He is furiously pursued by Bathurst and his partners.
The film adopts a narrative at a breakneck pace. There are numerous high-speed chase scenes. There is a scene where a sports car driven by Threadway is chased by a mega truck driven by Bathhurst. But the chase takes place inside a police station, destroying everything in front of it.
In line with the MATRIX trilogy and THE FIFTH ELEMENT, INFINITE doesn’t let the viewer blink. There are multiple shootings, chases, fights, duels, space jumps, all at a blistering pace.
The film has already been badly received by critics.
I don’t agree. I found the production impeccable and the story worthy of attention.
It is certainly not among the best Fuqua films, but in my opinion it deserves to be seen. Science fiction movie fans will definitely like it.
