Ontem deparei no NETFLIX (também tem no GLOBOPLAY) com o filme brasileiro O VENDEDOR DE PASSADOS (THE PAST SELLER), dirigido pelo cineasta Lula Buarque de Hollanda (sócio fundador da Conspiração Filmes) , em 2015. O fato de ser estrelado por Lázaro Ramos e Alinne Moraes me levou a ver o filme, cuja sinopse parecia bem desafiadora.
Um jovem colecionador de relíquias tem uma profissão bastante estranha: ele cria e vende vidas passadas para pessoas que, por qualquer motivo, desejam apagar seu passado real e viver a partir de uma história falsa e inventada. O trabalho de Vicente é muito minucioso. Ele cria uma história, busca fotos e lembranças que a suportem e entrega tudo ao cliente, apenas quando ele está plenamente satisfeito com seu novo passado.
Um dia, entre em seu local de trabalho a misteriosa (e linda) Clara (Alinne Moraes). Ela se recusa a dar quaisquer elementos de sua vida para Vicente. Quer que ele tenha liberdade total para construir um passado inteiramente novo para ela. Até seu nome ela recusa a fornecer. Mesmo cobrada que o trabalho dele não funciona assim, ela faz questão de manter total sigilo sobre sua vida real. A única condição que ela impões é que o novo passado dela inclua um crime cometido por ela.
Impressionado com a beleza da nova cliente e desafiado pela proposta, Vicente vai mergulhar no trabalho mais difícil de sua vida.
O filme é baseado no livro homônimo do escritor angolano-brasileiro José Eduardo Agualusa.
O diretor Buarque de Hollanda realmente surpreende pela sutileza das cenas que vão construindo seu filme. O passado do próprio Vicente é um elemento decisivo da trama. O cliente ex-gordo que quer uma passado novo para arrumar uma esposa. O médico cirurgião plástico (Odilon Wagner) melhor amigo de Vicente. A senhora idosa (Ruth de Souza) que ele visita para colher fotos e histórias de vida.
Admito que minha baixa expectativa em relação ao filme, me levou a gostar bastante dele. O filme brinca talentosamente com a verdade e a mentira. Chega a colocar o espectador em jogos de advinhação sobre o que é mostrada na trama : verdade ou mentira? A atmosfera é quase de um filme noir (o mistério em torno da cliente é elemento comum a todo filme noir).
“Você acredita em tudo o que ouve?”. O VENDEDOR DE PASSADOS é um belo filme a ser conferido.

The fact of being a star. by Lázaro Ramos and Alinne Moraes took me to see the film, whose synopsis seemed very challenging.
A young relic collector has a very strange profession: he creates and sells past lives to people who, for whatever reason, wish to erase their real past and live off a false and fabricated story. Vicente’s work is very thorough. He creates a story, seeks out photos and souvenirs to support it, and delivers everything to the client, only when he is fully satisfied with his new past.
One day, enter your workplace the mysterious (and beautiful) Clara (Alinne Moraes). She refuses to give any elements of her life to Vicente. She wants him to have complete freedom to build an entirely new past for her. Even her name she refuses to give. Charged that his work doesn’t work like that, she insists on maintaining total secrecy about her real life. The only condition she imposes is that her new past includes a crime she committed.
Impressed by the beauty of the new client and challenged by the proposal, Vicente will dive into the most difficult job of his life.
The film is based on the homonymous book by Angolan-Brazilian writer José Eduardo Agualusa.
Director Buarque de Hollanda really surprises with the subtlety of the scenes that build his film. Vicente’s own past is a decisive element in the plot. The ex-fat client who wants a new past to get a wife. The plastic surgeon (Odilon Wagner) who is Vicente’s best friend. The old lady (Ruth de Souza) he visits to collect photos and life stories.
I admit that my low expectations for the film led me to like it a lot. The film skillfully plays with truth and lies. It even puts the viewer in guessing games about what is shown in the plot: truth or lie? The atmosphere is almost film noir (the mystery surrounding the client is a common element in every film noir).
“Do you believe everything you hear?” THE PAST SELLER is a beautiful film to be seen.
