Desde o extraordinário Hannibal Lecter, o cinema não resiste a um serial killer. É impressionante a quantidade de filmes e séries com a figura do assassino em série.
A Apple TV+ lançou ontem BLACK BIRD, uma série policial original de seis capítulos que busca inovar sobre o tema. O traficante Jimmy Keene é preso e condenado a 10 anos de cadeia. No início de sua pena, o Promotor e uma agente do FBI fazem contato com ele propondo um acordo: ele concordaria em ser transferido para uma penitenciária de segurança máxima, com o objetivo de fazer amizade com um serial killer e obter dele a confissão sobre outras 12 mulheres que ele supostamente matou. Se obtiver êxito na confissão, Jimmy teria sua pena cancelada e sairia livre.
O enredo original vem de uma história do escritor e produtor da série Dennis Lehane, o criador de tramas como SOBRE MENINOS E LOBOS e GONE BABY GONE. Segundo os créditos da série, a história é baseada em fatos reais, vividos pelo verdadeiro Jimmy Keene.
Além de seu roteirista e produtor estrelado, BLACK BIRD tem muita gente conhecida no elenco. O protagonista Jimmy Keene é vivido pelo ator inglês Taron Egerton, de ROCKETMAN e KINGSMAN. Egerton iniciou BLACK BIRD (apenas dois dos seis capítulos estão no streaming por enquanto) meio careteiro demais. Vamos ver como fica.
O cast ainda tem Greg Kinnear, Ray Liotta (achei que era seu último papel mas vi que não era), a atriz alemã Sepideh Moafi, Paul Walter Houser (de RICHARD JEWELL, em outro trabalho primoroso), Cecilia Leal e Alexander Babara.
Gostei muito dos dois primeiros capítulos. A série tem um clima pesado mas um ritmo interessante. Ainda não há um “bond” com o anti-herói que conduz a trama. Deve ser desenvolvido no decorrer da história.
Mas Lehane e sua turma lograram iniciar BLACK BIRD com muito talento. O espectador já foi dormir ansioso pelo próximo capítulo.

Apple TV+ yesterday released BLACK BIRD, an original six-part crime series that seeks to innovate on the topic. Drug dealer Jimmy Keene is arrested and sentenced to 10 years in prison. At the beginning of his sentence, the prosecutor and an FBI agent make contact with him proposing a deal: he would agree to be transferred to a maximum security penitentiary, with the aim of befriending a serial killer and obtaining from him a confession about other 12 women he allegedly killed. In addition to its star-studded screenwriter and producer, BLACK BIRD has many well-known people in the cast. Egerton started BLACK BIRD (only two of the six chapters are streaming for now) a little too grimace. Let’s see how it goes.

I really enjoyed the first two chapters. The series has a heavy atmosphere but an interesting pace. There is still no “bond” with the anti-hero that drives the plot. It must be developed over the course of history.
But Lehane and the gang managed to start BLACK BIRD with a lot of talent. The viewer has already gone to sleep looking forward to the next chapter.
