Revi na Apple TV+ o filmaço de Alan J. Pakula, RAÍZES DA AMBIÇÃO (HERE COMES A HORSEMAN), que o cineasta fez em 1978. Um poderoso western nostálgico.
Jane Fonda, James Caan e Jason Robards vivem os protagonistas de uma história sobre uma fazendeira que teima em enfrentar o poderoso milionário local, mantendo sua fazenda contra todas as possibilidades.
Há duas coisas muito interessantes em rever este grande filme: boa parte do elenco (Robards, Caan, Farnsworth e o próprio diretor) já nos deixaram.
A segunda é que muitos dos temas ali expostos seguem atualíssimos: especulação imobiliária, bancos opressores, crise econômica, ganância.
Filmado no estado do Colorado, o filme aproveita como poucos a paisagem para extrair a força da história e de seus personagens, numa simbiose incrível coroada pelo talento de Pakula. Para isso, a fotografia maravilhosa de Gordon Willis contribui decisivamente.
Uma nota final sobre Jane Fonda. A filha de Henry foi, é e sempre será uma atriz maravilhosa. Sua Ella é um personagem feminino incrível e dela emana a alma da história. Muitas vezes apenas com olhares e sorrisos.
James Caan, Jason Robards, Richard Farnsworth e Alan Pakula marcaram época, também por easte grande filme.
I watched on Apple TV+ Alan J. Pakula’s outstanding film, HERE COMES A HORSEMAN, which the filmmaker made in 1978. A powerful nostalgic western.
Jane Fonda, James Caan and Jason Robards live the protagonists of a story about a female farmer who insists on facing the powerful local millionaire, keeping her farm against all odds.
There are two very interesting things about reviewing this great film: a good part of the cast (Robards, Caan, Farnsworth and the director himself) have already left us.
The second is that many of the themes exposed there are still very current: real estate speculation, oppressive banks, economic crisis, greed.
Shot in the state of Colorado, the film takes advantage of the landscape like few others to extract the strength of the story and its characters, in an incredible symbiosis crowned by Pakula’s talent. For this, the wonderful photography of Gordon Willis contributes decisively.
A final note on Jane Fonda. Henry’s daughter was, is and always will be a wonderful actress. Her character, Ella is an amazing female and from her emanates the soul of the story. Often just with looks and smiles.
James Caan, Jason Robards, Richard Farnsworth and Alan Pakula marked an era, also for this great film.
