Está em cartaz na Apple TV+, NOW e outros streamings, OS RENEGADOS (THE MISFITS). filme que o cineasta finlandês Renny Harlin (DURO DE MATAR 2 e CLIFFHANGER) dirigiu em 2021.
Pierce Brosnan, aposentado como James Bond faz o ladrão charmoso Richard Pace), que é contatado por um grupo de jovens para efetuar um assalto mirabolante: roubar centenas de barras de outro que estão no cofre do subsolo de uma penitenciária de segurança máxima, no meio do deserto, em um fictício País árabe que financia o terrorismo internacional.
Os Robin Hoods juvenis são o ladrão Ringo (Nick Cannon), a assassina Violet (Jamie Chung), Prince, um príncipe árabe playboy (Rami Jaber), Wick, um hacker (Mike Angelo) e a filha de Pace, a bela Hope (Hermione Corfield). Eles convencem o veterano ladrão a se engajar na aventura apenas pela grandeza do objetivo: evitar atentados terroristas.
O mega vilão da vez é um multimilionário internacional, o misterioso Schulz (Tim Roth), habituée de negociatas com os líderes terroristas locais.
O filme deve ter sido financiado por Abu Dhabi ou algum lugar semelhante tantas são as cenas “turísticas” naquele país. Há hotéis maravilhosos, carros fantásticos, jatinhos sofisticados e festas nababescas.
O filme ainda agrega ao gênero um tom inclusivo e nobre. A gang (ou ONG) tem todas as etnias e um propósito de melhorar o mundo.
É claro que o plano do roubo tem muitos buracos se comparado com os clássicos do gênero (GOLPE DE MESTRE, TOPKAPI, OCEAN’S ELEVEN, THE GETAWAY ou THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR). Mas isso também pouco importa.
Por certo Renny Harlin, Pierce Brosnan e seus “parças” se divertiram em Abu Dhabi. Nós, espectadores, também rimos bastante.
THE MISFITS é tão divertido quanto descartável. Hoje pela manhã eu já não lembrava do filme.

The juvenile Robin Hoods are thief Ringo (Nick Cannon), assassin Violet (Jamie Chung), Prince, a playboy Arab prince (Rami Jaber), Wick, a hacker (Mike Angelo) and Pace’s daughter, the beautiful Hope ( Hermione Corfield). They convince the veteran thief to engage in the adventure just for the greatness of the objective: to prevent terrorist attacks.
The mega-villain of the moment is an international multimillionaire, the mysterious Schulz (Tim Roth), a habituée of dealings with local terrorist leaders.
The film must have been financed by Abu Dhabi or somewhere similar, so there are “tourist” scenes in that country. There are wonderful hotels, fantastic cars, fancy jets, and crazy parties.
The film still adds an inclusive and noble tone to the genre. The gang (or NGO) has all ethnicities and a purpose to improve the world.
It is clear that the robbery plan has many holes compared to the classics of the genre (THE STING, TOPKAPI, OCEAN’S ELEVEN, THE GETAWAY or THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR). But that doesn’t matter either.
For sure, Renny Harlin, Pierce Brosnan and their partners had a great time in Abu Dhabi.
THE MISFITS is as fun as it is disposable. This morning I didn’t remember the movie anymore.
