A NETFLIX está apresentando o filme AS JUSTICEIRAS (DO REVENGE), que a cineasta Jennifer Kaytin Robinson dirigiu a partir de um roteiro original dela e de Celeste Ballard.
O ponto de partida do filme é interessante: duas meninas de um High School na Flórida resolvem se vingar dos seus ex-namorados. Mas para não deixar pistas uma vai executar a vingança da outra.
Não é mera coincidência. O roteiro bebe explicitamente do clássico STRANGERS ON A TRAIN, de Alfred Hitchcock. Claro que o novo filme teen nem chega perto das sutilezas, profundidades emocionais e genialidades do Velho mestre. Mas acho que nem era o objetivo.
A intenção foi fazer uma comédia dark sobre o bullying nestes tempos de redes sociais, nudes trocados entre namorados e egoísmo exacerbado de meninos e meninas mimadas cujo maior problema na vida é em que universidade vão ingressar.
Os lindos ambientes de Miami, a cenografia colorida e alegre e os figurinos variados garantem a diversão do espectador, embora seja bem assustador o retrato de uma juventude vazia e repleta de psicopatas vingativos.
Camila Mendes (de RIVERDALE), Maya Hawke (a filha de Ethan Hawke e Uma Thurman), Austin Abrams, Rish Shah, Ava Capri, J.D., Paris Bereic, Alisha Boe, Maia Refico e a conhecida Sophie Turner garantem rostos e corpos bonitos o tempo todo na tela. Sarah Michelle Gellar faz uma ponta divertida como a Headmaster neurótica da escola.
O roteiro está recheado de frases tão engraçadas quanto amargas (“Grave erro. Eu era a Billie Jean King em uma clínica de Maria Sharapovas”.) A hiper valorização da aparência é aterrorizante.
DO REVENGE atinge seu objetivo de duas horas de entretenimento. O final meio cor-de-rosa talvez não esteja de acordo com tanta maldade praticada durante o filme. Será que o mundo real funciona assim?

The starting point of the film is interesting: two girls from a high school in Florida decide to take revenge on their ex-boyfriends. But to leave no clues, one will exact revenge on the other.
It is not mere coincidence. The script draws explicitly from Alfred Hitchcock‘s classic STRANGERS ON A TRAIN. Of course, the new teen movie doesn’t even come close to the Old Master’s subtleties, emotional depths and genius. But I don’t think that was the point.
The intention was to make a dark comedy about bullying in these times of social networks, nudes exchanged between boyfriends and exaggerated selfishness of spoiled boys and girls whose biggest problem in life is which university they will enter.
Miami’s beautiful environments, colorful and cheerful scenography and varied costumes ensure the spectator’s enjoyment, although the portrayal of an empty youth filled with vengeful psychopaths is quite frightening.
Camila Mendes (from RIVERDALE), Maya Hawke (the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman), Austin Abrams, Rish Shah, Ava Capri, J.D., Paris Bereic, Alisha Boe, Maia Refico and the well-known Sophie Turner guarantee beautiful faces and bodies. all the time on the screen. Sarah Michelle Gellar does a fun cameo as the school’s neurotic Headmaster.
The script is filled with lines as funny as they are bitter (“Serious mistake. I was Billie Jean King in a Maria Sharapovas clinic.”) The hyper-appreciation of appearance is terrifying.
DO REVENGE achieves its goal of two hours of entertainment. The half-pink ending may not be in line with so much evil practiced during the film. Does the real world work like that?
