O app BRITBOX está exibindo a série inglesa SUSPECT, um thriller que busca se diferenciar das séries do gênero.
Começa pelo formato dos 8 capítulos cada um com apenas 30 minutos.
Um veterano detetive da polícia britânica chega ao necrotério para uma rotineira investigação sobre uma garota desaparecida. Quando a legista lhe mostra os cadáveres que entraram ali nas últimas horas, ele estarrecido descobre a filha morta, em aparente suicídio.
Ao justificado ataque de nervos que o Detetive Danny Frater (John Nesbitt) sofre, se sucede uma busca desesperada pelo que de verdade ocorreu, já que seu chefe lhe dá 24 horas antes de retirar dele o caso.
O elenco é cheio de figurinhas carimbadas, como Joely Richardson (filha do cineasta Tony Richardson e da atriz Vanessa Redgrave), Imogen King (como a morta Christina que faz aparições para motivar o pai), Sam Heughan, Richard E, Grant (BRAZIL), Ben Miller e Niamh Algar.
A tentativa de inovar funciona até certo ponto.
A trama cai no mais ordinário “whodunnit” e o twist final nem muito surpreendente é.
Mas SUSPECT tentou ser original. Ficou uma boa série.

A veteran British police detective arrives at the morgue for a routine investigation into a missing girl. When the coroner shows him the corpses that have entered there in the last few hours, he is terrified to discover his daughter dead, in apparent suicide.
Detective Danny Frater (John Nesbitt) justifies a nervous breakdown, followed by a desperate search for what really happened, as his boss gives him 24 hours before withdrawing the case from him.
The cast is full of stamped characters, such as Joely Richardson (daughter of filmmaker Tony Richardson and actress Vanessa Redgrave), Imogen King (as the dead Christina who makes appearances to motivate her father), Sam Heughan, Richard E, Grant (BRAZIL) , Ben Miller and Niamh Algar.
The attempt to innovate works to a certain extent.
The plot falls into the most ordinary “whodunnit” and the final twist isn’t too surprising.
But SUSPECT tried to be original. It was a good series.
