A Apple TV+ está exibindo mais uma produção original da turma da maçã: RAYMOND & REY, dirigido pelo cineasta colombiano Rodrigo García (Produtor da magnífica série IN TREATMENT, versão HBO).
Dois meio irmãos que pouco se vêem são obrigados a se reunir para cavar o túmulo do pai, recentemente falecido. Esta exigência de última vontade do Pai vai fazê-los conviver por alguns dias, rememorando as brigas e os (poucos) ótimos momentos que tiveram junto ao velho.
O roteiro do filme é muito bem escrito. Aproveita as diferenças entre os dois irmãos e acentua as visões de vida de cada um. Ewan McGregor e Ethan Hawke estão ótimos como Raymond e Rey.
Maribel Verdú, a ótima atriz espanhola de Y TU MAMÁ TAMBIÉN pontifica como uma das tantas amantes do falecido (inclusive com mais um filho dele desgarrado) agregando uma terceira personagem notável no enredo.
RAYMOND & REY é uma comédia dramática. O non sense da situação básica assegura momentos divertidos, embora o tom geral do filme seja triste e melancólico.
A perda do pai, o envelhecimento dos dois filhos, a solidão, se sobressaem como o clima do momento entre os personagens.
Mas, em meio a tudo isso, muitas situações inusitadas (e por isso mesmo engraçadas) depois, o filme termina em uma nota positiva.
A vida sempre reserva coisas boas. mesmo que as cartas de despedida do pai sejam tão diferentes para um filho e para o outro.

Two stepbrothers who barely see each other are forced to get together to dig the grave of their recently deceased father. This demand of the Father’s last will will make them live together for a few days, remembering the fights and the (few) great moments they had with the old man.
The film’s script is very well written. It takes advantage of the differences between the two brothers and accentuates each one’s views on life. Ewan McGregor and Ethan Hawke are great as Raymond and Rey.
Maribel Verdú, the great Spanish actress of Y TU MAMÁ TAMBIÉN pontificates as one of the many lovers of the deceased (including one more lost son) adding a third notable character to the plot.
RAYMOND & REY is a comedy drama. The nonsense of the basic situation ensures funny moments, although the general tone of the film is sad and melancholy.
The loss of the father, the aging of the two children, the loneliness, stand out as the mood of the moment between the characters.
But, in the midst of all this, many unusual (and therefore funny) situations later, the film ends on a positive note.
Life always has good things in store. even if the father’s farewell letters are so different for one son and the other.
