A HBO MAX já exibe três capítulos da segunda temporada da multi premiada série THE WHITE LOTUS. Na minha opinião, todo barulho (e prêmios) em nome da primeira temporada eram demasiados. Não vi nenhuma novidade merecedora de tamanha repercussão.
Pelo início da segunda temporada, acho que os produtores acertaram a mão. A história de um grupo de turistas americanos ricos que vão passar uma semana em um hotel paradisíaco na costa da Sicília me parece bem mais atraente, por diversas razões.
Permanece a estrutura de mostrar que alguém morreu (sem revelar quem foi morto) desenvolvendo a história em flashback até sabermos quem partiu desta para melhor. “Quem morreu?”substitui o tradicional “quem matou?”, o que se constitui em uma abordagem criativa.
Também segue o naturalismo de certas cenas, beirando o explícito, especialmente em situações eróticas.
Esta segunda temporada capricha (e acerta na minha opinião) em usar a Sicília como gancho para muitas citações cinematográficas. Por exemplo, o tour que o personagem de F.Murray Abraham faz com seu filho e neto pelas locações sicilianas de THE GODFATHER é um momento delicioso.
Jennifer Coolidge (reprisando o papel), Meghann Fahy, Adam DiMarco, Beatrice Grannò, Jon Gries, Tom Hollander, Theo James, Michael Imperioli, Sabrina Impacciatore, Haley Lu Richardson, Aubrey Plaza, Will Sharpe, Simona Tabasco e Elena Romandini fazem o ótimo cast.
Quase na metade da temporada, THE WHITE LOTUS cresce como produto de entretenimento de alta qualidade.
HBO MAX already airs three chapters of the second season of the multi-award winning series THE WHITE LOTUS. In my opinion, all the fuss (and awards) about the first season was too much. I haven’t seen any news worthy of such repercussions.
By the beginning of the second season, I think the producers got it right. The story of a group of rich American tourists who go to spend a week in a paradise hotel on the coast of Sicily seems much more attractive to me, for several reasons.
The structure remains of showing that someone died (without revealing who was killed) developing the story in flashback until we know who left this life for the better. “Who died?” replaces the traditional “who killed?”, which constitutes a creative approach.
It also follows the naturalism of certain scenes, bordering on the explicit, especially in erotic situations.
This second season takes great care (and is right in my opinion) in using Sicily as a hook for many cinematic quotes. For example, the tour that F.Murray Abraham‘s character takes with his son and grandson through the Sicilian locations of THE GODFATHER is a delightful moment.
